Event guide

Dress for the gate, then plan the ride.

The club publishes a dress code for the Meydan grandstand and says it can refuse entry. That makes the journey part of the outfit. Read the club’s rules first, then decide how you want to arrive.

Meydan Racecourse grandstand lit up at night

Why the dress code is the first question

Most overseas visitors do not ask how the racing works. They ask what they can wear. The Dubai World Cup is scheduled for Saturday 27 March 2027 at Meydan Racecourse, according to the Dubai Racing Club calendar, and the club applies a written dress code for its grandstand. The club has not yet published a 2027 event page, so the code below is the one on its Plan Your Day page and in its 2026 guide booklet. Check both again nearer the date.

You may read elsewhere that there is no formal dress code. One 2026 press report said so. We follow the club, because the club owns the door. If the club’s page and a news article differ, the club’s page wins, and the club reserves the right to refuse entry.

What the club says

In the 2026 booklet and on its Plan Your Day page the club set these expectations for the Meydan Grandstand:

  • Men: smart attire, or national dress.
  • Women: smart attire or national dress, with modest dress or a skirt length that falls just above the knee or longer. Hats are encouraged.
  • Not permitted: shorts, sportswear of any type, torn or ripped jeans or torn clothing, open-neck t-shirts, tank tops, trainers and flip-flops.
  • Children aged 12 and over follow the same code as adults.

The 2026 booklet also lists no denim of any kind. The Plan Your Day page does not list denim. That is a difference between two club documents, so read the current guide and do not assume. If it says no denim, leave the jeans at the hotel.

A separate fashion contest, Style Stakes, ran in the Apron Views area in 2026. It is a feature of the day, not a ticket category, and we know nothing about its 2027 format.

Pack for the code, not the weather forecast

The practical point is shoes. Trainers are on the club’s not-permitted list, and many visitors from the USA, Europe, the UK, Australia and Japan fly with one pair of comfortable shoes. Put a smart pair in the cabin bag, not the hold. The same goes for a hat, which is easy to crush in a case. A hat box or a stiff bag does better on a vehicle seat than in a taxi boot.

Items left unattended are removed by security, and the club is not responsible for loss. In 2026 a security check came straight after the gate. We could not find a full list of prohibited items, so we do not give one. Ask the club, or read its current guide.

Pushchairs and strollers were not permitted inside the grandstand in 2026, and children aged 12 and under were kept out of the Horse Parade Ring. Plan child care before you leave the hotel if that applies to you.

The public options, before ours

Start with what the club and the authorities provide. The club’s page covers travel by car or taxi, with ample parking on site, and says Meydan is about 10 minutes from Dubai World Trade Centre and about 20 minutes from the Mall of the Emirates. We found no 2027 notice from the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) yet.

For the 2025 meeting the RTA advised public transport, ran public buses from 11:00 am, ran free shuttle buses from Dubai Falcon Hospital to the racecourse and set taxis to drop off and pick up at the Gate B ramp. It also said to expect congestion. That is 2025 precedent. Find the 2027 notice before you choose. We found no Metro station at the track, so do not plan around one.

Public buses and shuttles are good for people who travel light and are happy to queue. Our guide to taxis against a private car sets out where each option suits, with no fares quoted.

Where a door-to-door pick-up fits

This is our own planning view, not a rule from the club. A shared bus, a shuttle or a taxi queue puts you among a crowd for a stretch of the evening before the gate. A private vehicle collects you at the hotel entrance, in clean clothes, with the hat on the seat beside you. You step out where we agreed to set you down, and the next step is the gate and the security check.

We cannot promise a gate-side drop. The club and the RTA have not published coach, minibus or chauffeur-car drop-off rules for 2027. We agree the drop-off and the collection point with you and check their current notice before the day. We never name a bay we cannot confirm.

We are Dubai Bus Services, a private company. We are not the club’s or the RTA’s transport provider. We do not sell tickets, hospitality or entry. Tickets come from the Dubai Racing Club at dubairacingclub.com, and the gate on your ticket tells you where to go.

The ride back in the same outfit

The 2027 programme is not published. As precedent only, in 2026 the Dubai World Cup race ran at 8:45 pm and the UAE tribute at 9:10 pm, per the club’s booklet. A day that ends that late means a late ride back, in a crowd of other cars.

We set a collection point and a window with you, and the driver waits for your message rather than a fixed minute. If part of the party wants to leave early, say so and we plan two pick-ups. Our guide to the late-night exit plan from another event shows the method.

Which vehicle

A couple or a family of four to six usually takes the Mercedes V-Class. A group of eight to thirteen fits the 13-seater van. The Mercedes Sprinter has the most room for hats, bags and garment covers. For a corporate party, the VIP events page explains that service. Send the guest numbers and hotel names through the booking page and we reply with a fixed written quote before you accept anything.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

What is the Dubai World Cup dress code?

The club’s page asks for smart attire or national dress. Women are asked for modest dress or a skirt length at or below the knee, and hats are encouraged. Read the current guide on dubairacingclub.com before you pack.

What is not allowed in the grandstand?

The club lists shorts, sportswear of any type, torn or ripped jeans or clothing, open-neck t-shirts, tank tops, trainers and flip-flops. In 2026 the booklet also listed no denim of any kind, so check whether the current guide says the same.

Is there really no dress code at the Dubai World Cup?

One press report in 2026 said so. The club’s own page says the code applies and that it can refuse entry. We follow the club.

Do children follow the same code?

In 2026 the club said children aged 12 and over follow the same code as adults. Strollers were not permitted inside the grandstand. Check the current guide.

Can you drop us at the gate?

We do not promise it. Drop-off rules for coaches, minibuses and chauffeur cars are not published for 2027. We agree the point with you and check the club’s and the RTA’s notice first.

Is there a Metro or a shuttle?

We found no Metro station at the track. For 2025 the RTA ran public buses and free shuttles from Dubai Falcon Hospital, and used the Gate B ramp for taxis. That is precedent only, so look for the 2027 notice.

Do you sell tickets?

No. Tickets and hospitality come from the Dubai Racing Club only. We provide the vehicle and the driver.

How much does a pick-up cost?

Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the date, the hotel, the group size and the hours, and we put it in writing before you accept.
