Car with driver for a day in Dubai

A car with driver for a day is the simplest way to see a lot of Dubai, or to get a lot done in it. Instead of booking taxis between every stop, you keep one vehicle and one chauffeur from the first pick-up to the last drop-off. Bags and shopping stay in the car, the cabin stays cool, and the next stop is a message away.

It differs from our hourly chauffeur hire mainly in scale. Hourly bookings start at four hours, for meetings or an evening out; a full day suits a longer programme with no need to watch the clock. Either way, you agree the hours in advance and receive a fixed quote by email, and nothing is charged until you confirm.

How the day works

Your chauffeur arrives ten minutes before the agreed start time, already briefed on the plan you sent with the booking. Between stops, the car waits in nearby parking rather than circling, and comes to the entrance when you are ready. Parking and Salik tolls are included in the quote, so there is nothing to settle during the day.

Plans change, and that is fine. If you decide to skip a stop or add one, simply tell the chauffeur; within the booked hours, the order of the day is up to you. If the day runs over, extra time is charged at the hourly rate written on your quote, with no surcharge for evenings or public holidays.

Three ways to spend the day

Old Dubai: start in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, cross the Creek by abra to the Gold and Spice Souks in Deira, then lunch at Al Seef with the dhows moored alongside. Your chauffeur meets you on whichever side of the Creek you finish, so there is no walking back to find the car.

New Dubai: the Museum of the Future and the Dubai Frame in the morning, Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa in the afternoon, and the fountains after dark. Later, a drive along Jumeirah Beach Road and out to the Palm for dinner.

Coast and Marina: La Mer and Jumeirah Public Beach, a photograph of the Burj Al Arab (closed for a major restoration at the time of writing, but still a fine view from the beach), then Dubai Marina and Bluewaters for sunset.

Send us a rough plan with the booking, even just a list of places, and we will suggest an order that makes sense for the traffic and the time of day.

Planning around the heat and the traffic

A little planning makes a long day easier. In the warmer months, put outdoor stops such as the souks, the beach or the Creek in the early morning or after sunset, and keep the middle of the day for museums and malls. Sheikh Zayed Road is busiest on weekday mornings and late afternoons, so if your day crosses the city, your chauffeur will suggest an order of stops that keeps you moving rather than queuing. If your plan includes a mosque or a heritage site, check its visiting hours in advance, as they often close around prayer times or for part of the day.

Business days and visiting family

Full-day hire is just as useful for work. A visiting executive can move between DIFC, Business Bay and Dubai Media City with the same chauffeur all day, taking calls in the back between meetings; our page on DIFC chauffeur service covers that in more detail. Families hosting relatives often book a day for appointments, school collections and a shopping trip, with child seats fitted free on request.

For several consecutive days, ask in the notes and we will do our best to keep the same chauffeur and vehicle for the whole stay.

Going beyond Dubai

A full day can include another emirate. Popular choices are the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, the mountains at Hatta and the oasis city of Al Ain. These are quoted as intercity day trips because of the distance, with tolls and waiting included in the same way.

Choosing the vehicle

The executive sedan is ideal for one to three people, with a quiet cabin for calls. Families and shoppers tend to prefer the luxury SUV for its space, and the Mercedes V-Class keeps up to seven people together with room for bags. For a special occasion, the Rolls-Royce can be booked by the hour as well.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How is a full day different from hourly hire?

Both keep the same car and chauffeur with you. Hourly hire starts at four hours within Dubai and suits meetings or an evening out; a full day covers a longer programme, from morning to evening. The number of hours is agreed in advance and written on your quote, with any extra time charged at the rate shown there.

Can we change the plan during the day?

Yes. Within the booked hours, the order of stops is yours to decide. Tell the chauffeur if you want to skip somewhere or add a detour, and they will adjust the route. If a change would take you outside Dubai, check with us first, as intercity journeys are quoted separately.

Does the chauffeur act as a tour guide?

Our chauffeurs know the city well and are happy to suggest stops, restaurants and the best times to visit, but they are drivers rather than licensed tour guides. If you want guided commentary inside museums or heritage sites, book a licensed guide and we will plan the driving around their timings.

Where does the chauffeur wait while we are inside a mall?

In the mall’s car park or the nearest permitted waiting area, with the car kept cool. When you are ready, send a message and the chauffeur brings the car to the entrance you name. Parking charges during the day are included in your quote, so there is nothing to pay.

What happens if the day runs late?

You simply carry on. Extra time beyond the booked hours is charged at the hourly rate written on your quote, with no surcharge for evenings or public holidays. If you think you may run late, mention it when booking so we can confirm the chauffeur is free to stay on.

Can we book the same chauffeur for several days?

Ask in the notes when you book and we will do our best to keep the same chauffeur and vehicle for your whole stay. It makes each morning easier: the chauffeur already knows your hotel entrance, your preferences and the shape of the day ahead.
