Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah private transfer

Ras Al Khaimah, the northernmost of the seven Emirates, has become a favourite escape from Dubai: beach resorts on Al Marjan Island and at Al Hamra, desert retreats inland, and Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE. Most international visitors arrive through Dubai International, and many Dubai residents drive up for the weekend.

Our Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah private transfer takes you directly from the arrivals hall at DXB, or from your Dubai home or hotel, to the door of your resort. One chauffeur, one vehicle, no shared stops, and a fixed price agreed in writing before you travel.

Route and journey times

Chauffeurs normally take E311, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, north through Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, switching to E611, Emirates Road, when E311 is busy. Both are fast multi-lane roads once you are clear of the Dubai–Sharjah commuter traffic. Approximate times:

  • DXB to Al Hamra and Al Marjan Island: around 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Downtown Dubai to central Ras Al Khaimah: around 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Dubai Marina to Al Marjan Island: around 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Dubai to the upper Jebel Jais road: around 2 hours to 2 hours 15 minutes

Weekday rush hours and the start of the weekend can add time, so we build a margin into the pick-up. The northern Emirates do not currently charge road tolls, and any Salik gates passed in Dubai are included in your quote.

Arriving at DXB for a Ras Al Khaimah stay

If you are landing at Dubai International, share your flight number when you book. Your chauffeur tracks the flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, helps with the luggage and walks you to the car. An early landing or a delay simply moves the pick-up time. Our guide to meeting your driver at DXB explains each terminal.

After a long-haul flight, the drive north is a good time to rest: chilled water, phone chargers and a quiet cabin are standard, and child seats are free on request for younger travellers. If friends or family are arriving on different flights, we can collect each party separately or wait and bring everyone up together.

Golf, weddings and weekend groups

Ras Al Khaimah is a popular choice for destination weddings, golf weekends at Al Hamra and corporate offsites at the desert resorts. For groups like these we combine vehicles on one quote: a Sprinter for the guests, an SUV for the family and a car for the hosts, all arriving to the same timetable. Tell us the number of guests, the bags and the timing, and we will suggest the right mix.

Jebel Jais and the mountains

Jebel Jais rises to around 1,900 metres, and its paved road climbs through long switchbacks to viewing decks, restaurants and the zip line near the top. It is a spectacular drive, and a long one to do yourself after a day out. A chauffeur can take you up from Dubai or from your resort, wait while you visit, and bring you back down after sunset, when the air at the top is noticeably cooler than on the coast. In winter it can be cold enough at the top for a jacket.

For a mountain day, the luxury SUV is the most comfortable choice: higher seating, steady on the bends and room for jackets and bags.

Getting back to Dubai or the airport

For the return journey, tell us your check-out time or flight. For an international departure from DXB we normally suggest leaving Ras Al Khaimah about four and a half hours before the flight, which allows for the drive, a traffic margin and the airline’s recommended check-in time. Both legs, out and back, can be booked on one quote, and changes are free up to 24 hours before each pick-up.

Choosing the vehicle

A couple with resort luggage fits well in the executive sedan. Families with several large cases are better in the luxury SUV or the Mercedes V-Class, and a wedding party or golf group can travel together in the Mercedes Sprinter.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How long does it take to drive from DXB to Al Marjan Island?

Around 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on traffic around Sharjah. The chauffeur usually takes E311 north and switches to E611 if it is busy. If you land at a peak hour, allow a little more; we track your flight and adjust the pick-up automatically.

Can you take us up Jebel Jais and wait at the top?

Yes. Book a return with waiting or a full day and the chauffeur drives you up the mountain road, waits near the viewing decks or restaurants, and brings you back down when you are ready. Allow around 45 minutes to an hour each way from central Ras Al Khaimah.

Are there tolls on the way to Ras Al Khaimah?

Only in Dubai. Depending on the route, you may pass a Salik gate before leaving the city; Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah do not currently charge road tolls. Any Salik charge is included in the fixed quote, so there is nothing to pay the chauffeur.

Can you collect us from our resort for our flight home from Dubai?

Yes. Tell us the flight time and the resort, and we propose a pick-up time that allows for the drive, a margin for traffic and the airline’s check-in time. For an international departure from DXB, that is usually around four and a half hours before the flight.

Do you also drive to Ras Al Khaimah International Airport?

Yes, as a point-to-point transfer from Dubai or from a resort in Ras Al Khaimah. Share the flight number when you book, and the pick-up time and the price are written on your quote before you confirm, with tolls and waiting included.

Which vehicle suits a family with a week of resort luggage?

The luxury SUV takes six guests and up to five medium suitcases; the Mercedes V-Class takes seven with up to six. If you are travelling with golf bags, a pram or diving kit, mention it in the notes and we will recommend the right size, or add a second vehicle for the bags.
