The Hajar Mountains are about 90 minutes from the city. Take a chauffeur-driven car from Dubai to Hatta for kayaking at the dam, a heritage walk or a stay at a mountain lodge — and leave the driving to us.

Hatta is part of the Emirate of Dubai, but it feels a world away: an old mountain town in the Hajar range near the border with Oman, with a turquoise reservoir, walking and biking trails and a restored heritage village. It is one of the most rewarding day trips from the city, and one of the more tiring to drive yourself, with a long desert road out and a mountain road in.
With a car and driver from Dubai to Hatta, you sit back for the 90 minutes each way, the chauffeur waits while you explore, and the day ends with someone else handling Dubai’s evening traffic. Book it as a full day, or as a one-way transfer to a Hatta lodge with a separate collection later.
From central Dubai the route follows the E44, the Dubai–Hatta Road, east through Al Awir and across open desert before the mountains rise ahead. Typical times outside the rush hours:
Fuel, parking and any Salik gates passed while leaving the city are included in your quote, so there is nothing to pay during the day.
Some outdoor activities pause in the hottest months, and opening hours change through the year, so check the activities you want before you travel. Your chauffeur drops you at each entrance and waits nearby.
Leave Dubai at around 8am and you can be on the water at Hatta Dam by half past nine, while the air is still fresh. Late morning suits the Wadi Hub or a short trail; then lunch in town, and the Heritage Village in the afternoon, when the low sun brings out the colour of the mud-brick walls. Most guests are back in Dubai in time for dinner. In summer, start earlier still and keep the middle of the day for indoor stops.
On cooler winter days, some guests add the Hatta Honey Bee Garden or a long, slow picnic lunch by the water before heading home.
Staying overnight at one of Hatta’s lodges or caravan resorts? Book a one-way transfer out and a separate collection on the day you leave; both legs can sit on the same quote, and changes are free up to 24 hours before each pick-up.
Hatta is cooler than Dubai on winter evenings, but the sun is strong at midday all year round. Bring hats, sun cream and comfortable shoes for the trails and the stone paths of the Heritage Village; if you plan to kayak, pack a change of clothes and a towel and leave them in the car. Chilled water is on board as standard, and the chauffeur can stop on the way out for supplies.
If you would like to see more of the Hajar Mountains, the east coast at Fujairah and the mountain road up Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah are both within reach of Dubai as separate day trips.
You do not need a 4x4: the roads to the dam, the Wadi Hub and the village are paved. Couples travel comfortably in the executive sedan, but most families choose the luxury SUV for its higher seating and room for bags and a cool box. The Mercedes V-Class takes seven, and the Mercedes Sprinter moves a group of up to sixteen.
Prefer the city? Our car with driver for a day in Dubai keeps the same chauffeur with you from breakfast to dinner, and the Al Ain route offers another mountain view at Jebel Hafeet.

Around 1 hour 15 minutes from Deira or Mirdif and around 1 hour 40 minutes from Dubai Marina, outside the rush hours. The route follows the E44 east through the desert into the Hajar Mountains. We set the pick-up time so you arrive early, before the heat builds at the dam.
Yes. Hatta is an exclave of the Emirate of Dubai in the Hajar Mountains, close to the border with Oman. There is no border checkpoint on the drive from Dubai, so you need nothing beyond the ID you would normally carry. It is a popular weekend escape for residents as well as visitors.
No. The main road from Dubai and the roads to Hatta Dam, the Wadi Hub and the Heritage Village are all paved, so any of our cars, SUVs or vans will do. Most families choose the luxury SUV for its height and space on the long bends, not because it is needed off-road.
Yes, comfortably. With an 8am pick-up you can be on the water by about 9.30am, spend the rest of the day at the Wadi Hub and Heritage Village, and be back in Dubai by early evening. The chauffeur waits throughout, so you can stay longer if the day is going well.
Yes. Book a one-way transfer to the lodge and a separate collection for your departure day; both legs can sit on the same quote. Share the lodge name and your check-out time and we will plan the pick-up around it, including the drive back to your hotel or the airport.
October to April, when daytime temperatures in the mountains are pleasant for kayaking and walking. Summer days are very hot, and some outdoor activities pause or shorten their hours, so if you visit then, plan an early start and indoor stops in the middle of the day.
