Dubai to Sharjah airport transfer: the short trip that needs planning

Sharjah International Airport is the home of Air Arabia and a busy base for low-cost and regional flights, so many Dubai residents and visitors fly from it. On a map it looks close. In practice the roads between Dubai and Sharjah are among the most congested in the country, and the same journey can take 25 minutes at midday or well over an hour in the evening rush.

Our Dubai to Sharjah airport transfer takes that uncertainty out of your departure. We set the pick-up time from your address and your flight time, your chauffeur arrives ten minutes early, and the price is fixed in writing before you confirm, including any Salik tolls on the way out of Dubai.

Routes and typical journey times

Most chauffeurs avoid Al Ittihad Road, the direct route into Sharjah city, which backs up badly at the Al Mamzar end. Instead they take E311 (Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road) or E611 (Emirates Road) before turning off towards the airport. Approximate times outside the peaks:

  • Deira, Al Garhoud and Dubai Creek Harbour: around 25–35 minutes
  • Downtown Dubai, DIFC and Business Bay: around 35–50 minutes
  • Al Barsha and Dubai Hills: around 45–60 minutes
  • Dubai Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah: around 50 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes

The slowest time to travel north is the weekday evening rush, when commuters head home to Sharjah. We add that margin to the pick-up time we propose, so you are not watching the clock from the back seat.

Early departures and late arrivals

Many flights from Sharjah leave very early in the morning or late at night. Pick-ups at those hours are routine, and there is no surge pricing for late nights or public holidays: the fixed quote is the price you pay. If you are leaving from a hotel, tell us and the chauffeur will be at the entrance ten minutes before the agreed time, ready to load the bags.

Arriving at SHJ and heading into Dubai? Share your flight number and your chauffeur tracks it, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and walks you to the car. Delays simply move the pick-up; you are not charged for the airline’s timing.

Connecting between DXB and Sharjah

Some itineraries land at Dubai International and leave from Sharjah, or the other way round: a long-haul arrival connecting to a regional flight, for example. The two airports are only about 15 to 20 km apart, and a chauffeur transfer between them usually takes 25 to 40 minutes. Tell us both flight numbers and we will plan the timing around the connection, including the wait for bags at DXB.

Because the transfer is booked as one journey, the chauffeur meets you in the DXB arrivals hall and takes you straight to the Sharjah departures kerb. Our guide to meeting your driver at DXB explains what happens after you land.

What the quote covers

Your written quote names the vehicle and lists everything that goes into the price: the chauffeur, fuel, any Salik gates on the way out of Dubai, airport parking if the chauffeur meets you inside, and the waiting allowance. Sharjah itself has no road tolls. You confirm by replying to the quote email, and changes are free up to 24 hours before pick-up, which helps when an airline moves a short-haul departure time.

Sharjah Airport at a glance

Sharjah International sits on the eastern side of Sharjah city, close to University City, and is reached from E311 or E611. Check-in queues for popular early-morning departures can be long, so it is worth arriving in good time even for a short regional flight. Drop-off is at the departures kerb, where the chauffeur unloads your bags onto a trolley; if you are meeting someone off a flight instead, the chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a name board.

Choosing the vehicle

For one to three travellers with suitcases, the executive sedan is the natural choice. Families heading off on holiday usually book the luxury SUV or the Mercedes V-Class, which seats seven with luggage space behind. Child seats are free on request in cars, SUVs and vans; mention each child’s age when booking.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How long does it take to drive from Dubai Marina to Sharjah Airport?

Outside the rush hours, around 50 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on the route. In the weekday evening peak, when commuters head home to Sharjah, it can take considerably longer. We look at your flight time and the day of the week and propose a pick-up time with a sensible margin built in.

Why does the journey time to Sharjah vary so much?

Many people who work in Dubai live in Sharjah, so the roads between the two cities carry heavy commuter traffic in both directions. Al Ittihad Road is the most affected, which is why chauffeurs usually take E311 or E611 instead. A route that takes half an hour at midday can easily double at the evening peak.

Are there tolls between Dubai and Sharjah Airport?

Sharjah has no road tolls, but you may pass one or more Salik gates before leaving Dubai, depending on where you start and the route the chauffeur takes. Any Salik charge is already included in your fixed quote, so there is nothing to pay on the day.

Can you meet me in the arrivals hall at Sharjah Airport?

Yes. Share your flight number when you book and your chauffeur tracks the flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with your luggage. The waiting allowance after landing is written on your quote, and delays caused by the airline do not count against it.

Can I book a transfer from DXB to Sharjah Airport for a connecting flight?

Yes. Give us both flight numbers and we plan the timing around the connection, including the wait for bags at Dubai International. The drive between the two airports usually takes 25 to 40 minutes. If the connection looks tight, we will tell you before you book.

Do you charge extra for a 3am pick-up?

No. There is no surge pricing for late nights, early mornings or public holidays. The fixed quote you receive is the price you pay, whatever time your flight leaves. Early pick-ups are common for Sharjah departures, so please book at least 24 hours ahead to have the vehicle and chauffeur confirmed in writing.
