Coast to Meydan: leave earlier than you think.
A Marina, JBR or Palm hotel puts you on the far side of the city from the racecourse. The drive is not long on a map. On the biggest racing day of the year, it is the leg most likely to run over. This guide sets out the public options first.

The coast is the long way round
Dubai Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah are where many overseas visitors stay, and none of them is near Meydan. The Dubai Racing Club describes the racecourse as about 10 km from Downtown Dubai and about 20 minutes from the Mall of the Emirates. From the waterfront you start further out than either.
The figures below come from our own route model, using OpenStreetMap data with no traffic and a start point we chose for each area, so treat them as approximate. We turned them into ranges because a single number would pretend to a precision the road does not have.
| Starting point | Distance to Meydan | Quiet-road drive |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Marina | About 26 km | Roughly 30 to 40 minutes |
| JBR | About 27 km | Roughly 30 to 40 minutes |
| Palm Jumeirah | About 30 km | Roughly 35 to 45 minutes |
Race-day traffic is slower than any of these. In 2025 the RTA told people to expect traffic congestion on the way to Meydan. We would not plan a coastal pick-up on the quiet-road number.

Get a quoteThe public options first
Before you look at a private vehicle, know what already exists.
- Taxi. The Dubai Racing Club says to reach the racecourse by car or taxi. In 2025 the RTA said taxis would drop off and collect at the Gate B ramp. Ask the RTA’s current notice whether that applies in 2027.
- RTA buses and shuttles. In 2025 the RTA recommended public transport, ran public buses to the venue from 11:00 am and ran free shuttle buses from Dubai Falcon Hospital to the racecourse. Those are 2025 arrangements. From the coast you would first need to reach the pick-up point, so check how the 2027 plan starts.
- Parking. The club says ample parking is provided on site. For road directions, read the club’s guide and the current RTA notice.
We could not find a Metro station at the track in the club’s or the RTA’s material, so do not plan a Metro-only route. The club publishes gate times closer to the day. We cannot give 2027 ones.
A leave-early rule you can actually use
Work back from the time the club publishes for your gate. Add the drive range from the table. Add a congestion margin. Add the time it takes to step out and find your gate. In 2026 there was a security check immediately after the gate.
In 2026 the club opened Gate 1 for the public at 12:00 PM, opened the hospitality gates 2 to 5 at 1:00 PM and held the first race at 3:45 PM. Those are 2026 details. 2027 may differ. But they show a day that begins in the early afternoon, and a coastal group that wants to be inside for a first race at that hour may need to leave around midday or before.
A shorter way to say it: if the plan only works when the road is empty, it is not a plan. Choose the earlier pick-up and spend the extra time inside, not in a queue of cars.
Families staying at JBR and on the Palm
Resort hotels on the coast host a lot of families, and the club has rules that affect them. These are the club’s 2026 rules, and the 2027 guide may change them, so check it.
- Children under 2 were free with an adult holding a valid ticket, and proof of age could be asked for.
- Strollers and pushchairs were not permitted inside the grandstand.
- No children aged 0 to 12 were allowed in the Horse Parade Ring.
- Every child had to be with an adult holding a valid ticket. The Paddock Garden had a Kids’ Zone for ages 3 to 12, for hospitality guests of the club.
The transport point is practical. A family that cannot take a pushchair into the grandstand needs somewhere to leave it, and we found no published bag or pushchair storage at the track. Plan the pushchair at the hotel, and plan the pick-up around nap times and a long evening. Children aged 12 and over follow the same dress code as adults, so read the club’s page before you pack.
A late finish at the far end of the city
The 2026 programme ran to a World Cup race at 8:45 PM and a UAE tribute at 9:10 PM. If the 2027 evening is similar, a coastal group is looking at a quiet-road drive of 30 to 45 minutes after the last event, plus the wait to leave the car park or the taxi queue.
We agree the collection point and a rough time with you beforehand, and we check the club’s and the RTA’s current notice before the day. We do not promise to the minute, because the exit is not ours to control. If some of your party wants to leave early and some wants to stay, say so. Two smaller vehicles can serve that better than one big one. Our late-night exit plan for the Sevens explains how we think about a staggered return.
Where a private vehicle fits
We are Dubai Bus Services, a private company. We are not the Dubai Racing Club’s transport provider and not appointed by the RTA. The club and the RTA run their own arrangements, and ours are separate.
A pre-booked vehicle suits a group that wants one pick-up from the hotel and one return, with a driver who is told the plan in advance. For a mixed party from two Marina towers and a Palm resort, a coach with several stops can work. Each extra stop adds time, and we put the stops and the hours in the written quote.
Seat sizes run from the Mercedes V-Class and the 13-seater van to the Mercedes Sprinter, and for larger parties the 30-seater mini coach and the 50-seater coach. Tour operators handling a visiting group can read our page on hotel group transfers. If you have already seen how we run an evening event from the coast, the Marina and JBR to the Sevens guide covers a similar plan.
Asking for a quote
Send the date, the hotel or hotels, the number of people, whether children are travelling and the time you hope to be at the gate once the club announces it. We reply with a fixed written quote before you accept. Use the booking page. Tickets come from Dubai Racing Club at dubairacingclub.com, and we sell none. Check your government’s travel advice and the official UAE page for entry rules before you book.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
How far is Meydan from Dubai Marina?
About 26 km by our route model, which is roughly 30 to 40 minutes on a quiet road. JBR is about 27 km and Palm Jumeirah about 30 km. Race day will be slower.
Should I take a taxi to the Dubai World Cup?
A taxi is one of the two ways the club lists, by car or taxi. In 2025 the RTA said taxis dropped off and collected at the Gate B ramp. Check the RTA’s current notice for 2027, and expect demand at the end.
Is there a free shuttle to Meydan?
In 2025 the RTA ran free shuttle buses from Dubai Falcon Hospital to the racecourse. We cannot say whether that repeats in 2027. Look for the RTA advisory in March 2027.
Can I take a pushchair into the grandstand?
In 2026 the club did not permit strollers or pushchairs inside the grandstand. Check the club’s 2027 guide, and plan to leave the pushchair at the hotel.
What time should we leave the Marina?
We cannot give a 2027 time, because the club has not published gate times. Work back from the gate time, add the drive range of roughly 30 to 40 minutes, then add a congestion margin. We help you set the pick-up once the club announces the day.
Do you sell tickets or hospitality?
No. Tickets and entry come from Dubai Racing Club at dubairacingclub.com. We provide the vehicle and the driver.
Are you the club’s transport provider for the race meeting?
No. We are a private company, not appointed by the club or the RTA. We agree drop-off and collection points with you and check their current notice.
Can one vehicle collect people from different Marina hotels?
Yes. Give us the hotels and the numbers. Each additional stop adds time, so the quote lists the stops and the hours.
