Flying in for the Cup? Hotel first.

Overseas racing fans fly to Dubai for this one Saturday, from the USA, Japan, the UK, Europe and Australia. DXB is not far from Meydan, but a long-haul arrival and a dress code do not mix. Public options first, then the airport plan.

Why people fly in for this one

The Dubai World Cup has a long overseas story, and the Dubai Racing Club tells it on its own site. The first running was in 1996 and was won by the American horse Cigar. Japan won for the first time in 2011 with a one-two, and again in 2023. American winners include Arrogate in 2017 and Mystic Guide in 2021. In 2026, the 30th running, the US-trained Magnitude won, with Japan’s Forever Young behind.

So the crowd is international, and a good part of it lands in Dubai only a day or two before. The date we work with is Saturday 27 March 2027, shown on the club’s race calendar. The club has not yet published gate times or the race-day schedule for 2027.

We sell no tickets, hospitality or entry. Those come from Dubai Racing Club at dubairacingclub.com.

How far is the airport from the track

Our route model puts Dubai International Terminal 3 at about 22 km from Meydan, which is roughly 25 to 35 minutes on a quiet road. The model uses OpenStreetMap data with no traffic and a start point we chose, so it is approximate. On race day it will take longer. The RTA advised drivers in 2025 to expect traffic congestion.

Al Maktoum International, the other Dubai airport, has limited commercial flights, according to Expo City’s visitor FAQ. If your flight lands there, the same model gives about 47 km and roughly 50 to 60 minutes. We do not know which airlines you will fly, and we have not researched schedules.

The public options, in order

Here is what exists before any private vehicle.

  • Taxi from the airport. Our guide to taxi, ride-hailing and private transfer from the airport explains how the choices compare. A taxi is a sensible choice for one or two people with light bags.
  • The club’s own advice. The Dubai Racing Club’s Plan Your Day page lists car or taxi for reaching Meydan, and says there is ample parking on site.
  • RTA advisories. For the 2025 meeting the RTA recommended public transport, ran public buses from 11:00 am and ran free shuttle buses from Dubai Falcon Hospital. It also said taxis dropped off and collected at the Gate B ramp. These are 2025 facts. Look for the current advisory in March 2027.

We found no Metro station at the track in any club or RTA material. Do not plan on a rail route to the gate.

Why hotel first is the better plan

A long-haul arrival and a racecourse gate do not suit each other. The club sets a dress code. In 2026 the club asked for smart attire or national dress, and listed shorts, sportswear of any type, trainers, flip-flops, tank tops and open-neck t-shirts as not permitted in the grandstand. A traveller coming straight off a long flight is rarely dressed for a gate check.

We also found no published bag storage at the track. If you land with luggage on the Saturday morning, there is nowhere we can point to that holds it. So the plan is simple: airport, hotel, change, then racecourse. The same driver can do both legs if the timing works.

Our airport to Downtown and airport to Palm Jumeirah pages show how a hotel-first transfer is set up, and the airport to hotel guide covers the choices on arrival.

Arriving Thursday or Friday, or on the day

Because the World Cup is on a Saturday, many overseas visitors will land on the Thursday or Friday, and some earlier. That gives a rest day and a quiet transfer. We do not know your flight, so we plan from it once you send it.

A same-day arrival is possible but tight, and we would not call it comfortable. A flight that lands on the Saturday morning leaves the afternoon for check-in and a change of clothes, and nothing spare if the flight is late. If your plans depend on it, tell us the flight number and we plan the pick-up around it. Our airport chauffeur page explains how that works.

The Sunday needs thought too. After a night that, in 2026, ran to a main race at 8:45 PM and a tribute at 9:10 PM, the airport run next day is for a tired party. Book the departure leg at the same time as the arrival.

Where a private vehicle fits

We are Dubai Bus Services, a private company. We are not the Dubai Racing Club’s transport provider and not appointed by the RTA. Our service is separate from anything the club or the RTA runs.

A pre-booked vehicle suits a racing syndicate, a tour group or a family arriving on one flight. Seat sizes run from the Mercedes V-Class for a small party to the 13-seater van and the 30-seater mini coach. For a big arrival our big group arrival guide explains how a group pick-up at the airport is set up.

For the racecourse itself we agree the drop-off and collection point with you and check the club’s and the RTA’s current notice before the day. We do not assume a gate or a coach bay.

Asking for a quote

Send the flight details, the hotel, the number of people and the bags, and say whether you also want the race-day run and the airport leg home. We reply with a fixed written quote before you accept. Use the booking page. March is peak season. Check your government’s travel advice and the official UAE page for entry rules. We do not give visa advice.

Quick answers for this trip.

How far is Dubai Airport from Meydan?

About 22 km from Terminal 3 by our route model, roughly 25 to 35 minutes on a quiet road. Race day will be slower, so allow more.

Should I go to Meydan straight from the airport?

We suggest not. The club sets a dress code and we found no published bag storage at the track. Go to your hotel, change, then travel to the racecourse.

When is the Dubai World Cup in 2027?

It is scheduled for Saturday 27 March 2027 at Meydan, according to the Dubai Racing Club calendar. The club has not yet published gate times or the race-day schedule.

Is there a Metro to the racecourse?

We could not find a Metro station at the track in the club’s or the RTA’s material. In 2025 the RTA advised public buses and free shuttles from Dubai Falcon Hospital. Check the current advisory.

What do overseas visitors need to wear?

Follow the Dubai Racing Club’s own dress code page. In 2026 it asked for smart attire or national dress and did not admit shorts, sportswear, trainers, flip-flops, tank tops or open-neck t-shirts to the grandstand.

Can you meet us at the airport and take us to the hotel?

Yes. Send the flight number and we plan the pick-up from it. See our Dubai airport transfer page for how the meeting works.

Do you sell tickets or hospitality?

No. Tickets and entry come from Dubai Racing Club at dubairacingclub.com. We provide the vehicle and the driver.

How much does the airport transfer cost?

Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the date, the group size and the route, and we put it in writing before you accept.
