Event guide

Port Rashid, with no event parking.

The Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix runs on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026 at Port Rashid. Thirteen national teams race, and the organiser asks fans to use public transport because there is no official event parking. For a visiting group, the plan is the afternoon: when the stadium opens, where a taxi or vehicle can set down, and how to get back. Here is what SailGP publishes, what it does not, and how a private vehicle fits.

The weekend

SailGP lists the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, presented by DP World, on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026. Thirteen national teams race, and it is the penultimate event of the 2026 season. The venue is Port Rashid, “by the waters of Mina Rashid”. SailGP does not give the exact stadium entrance, so we do not either.

We are not SailGP’s transport provider and not a partner of the event. If its notices and ours ever differ, follow SailGP. We sell no tickets and print no ticket prices.

The afternoon schedule

On both days, SailGP says the Race Stadium opens at 13:30 and racing starts at 15:00. It calls both times approximate and says they can change with weather or race conditions. It asks visitors to arrive early, because bags are searched and tickets are checked at the entrance. Plan your arrival around the opening time, and check SailGP’s notices on the day.

SailGP also says there is no re-entry once you leave the stadium. For a group, that means everyone should arrive together and leave together, or agree what to do if someone steps out. Tickets are issued about ten days before the weekend through the Fever app, with a QR code.

Parking, drop-off and what SailGP says about getting there

SailGP says there is no official event parking and asks fans to use public transport. It says a taxi drop-off will be available near the Race Stadium. We found no event shuttle, no coach drop-off or waiting area, no road-closure plan and no nearest Metro station with a walking time on the pages we opened on 30 October 2026. A cruise-terminal guide from a third party describes the port as fenced and the nearest station as a long walk, but it is old, so we do not rely on it.

That matters for a vehicle. We cannot promise a stop at the stadium entrance, and we cannot promise that a coach may enter the port. We agree a drop-off point and a collection point with you once SailGP publishes them, and we put them in your written quote. If your group is large, tell us the numbers early, because a drop-off point for a coach is a different question from one for a taxi.

How far Port Rashid is

These are approximate drive times from our routing model, built on OpenStreetMap data, with no traffic and no event closures. The point used is the port area, so the gate may differ. An event afternoon will add time.

FromDistance to Port RashidApproximate drive time
Dubai Airport (DXB)About 23 kmAbout 37 minutes
Downtown Dubai (Burj Khalifa)About 11.6 kmAbout 15 minutes
DeiraAbout 11.7 kmAbout 16 minutes
Dubai World Trade CentreAbout 7.8 kmAbout 13 minutes
JBRAbout 31.6 kmAbout 31 minutes
Dubai MarinaAbout 33.9 kmAbout 35 minutes
Palm JumeirahAbout 34.5 kmAbout 36 minutes

The distances are short from the city centre and longer from the Marina and the Palm, so the choice of hotel area changes the afternoon more than the weekend does.

Bags and the day itself

SailGP says all bags are searched at entry. Glass, cans, single-use plastic including disposable water bottles, portable speakers, flares and fireworks are not allowed. It advises a reusable bottle. Large umbrellas are not allowed in the grandstands, and the grandstand seating is unshaded. Buggies and prams are welcome but must be stored in a designated area when they are not in use. Children under 18 must be with an adult at all times.

Count the bags with the people before you plan a vehicle. A group that travels light is easier to move than one with cool boxes, and the search at the entrance will slow a large bag down in any case.

The same weekend

Saturday 21 November also has the first ILT20 match in the league’s calendar file, at 18:30 at Dubai International Stadium, although the league’s own news item says the season starts on 22 November, so check before you plan. See our ILT20 Dubai matches page. Sunday 22 November is the Dubai Run, covered in our Dubai Run guide, and the Dubai International Boat Show runs from 25 to 29 November at Dubai Harbour. See Boat Show transport. Those pages cover different venues, so we link and do not repeat them.

SailGP’s season list also shows the Abu Dhabi Grand Final one week later, on 28 and 29 November 2026. That is in another city and belongs to a different plan.

Planning the afternoon

Start from the 13:30 opening and work backwards. For example, a group in Downtown Dubai that wants to be at the entrance at about 13:00 can plan a drive of about 15 minutes in free flow, plus a margin for the approach and the drop-off, so the vehicle might leave at about 12:15. A group in the Marina should add about 20 minutes more. Your hotel, group size and the day will change the sum.

For the return, agree one collection point and one time, and tell the group in writing. Many people leave when racing ends, and a taxi queue at the same point may be long. We cannot promise to beat it. A fixed time with a margin works better than a promise to be back when it finishes. Our guide to when to combine the Metro and a coach helps you decide which parts of the day need a vehicle.

Choosing the vehicle

Our guide figures:

If your group is 25 or more, SailGP says group sales exist through a form on its ticket site. That is for tickets, and it is SailGP’s to handle.

How a booked vehicle fits

  1. Send the plan. The race day, hotel area, party size and the time you want to be back.
  2. Ask for a fixed written quote. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
  3. Read the pick-up and drop-off arrangement. The quote states it, and we update it when SailGP publishes its notices.
  4. Agree the return time. We plan the margin and tell you what is not yet published.
  5. Tell us if plans change. We adjust where we can, and cannot promise to beat traffic.
