The Formula 1 season finale is a 60,000-plus crowd arriving at one island and leaving at about the same time. For a group staying in Dubai, the race is the easy part. The long drive back at the end of a late night is the part that needs a plan.

The organisers’ own site, abudhabigp.com, shows the 2026 event as 3 to 6 December 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island. The Formula 1 site lists the track sessions from Friday 4 December, with qualifying on Saturday 5 December and the race on Sunday 6 December. The organisers’ 3 December start is earlier than the first track session, so check what is on that day if your tickets cover it.
That is all we can confirm for 2026. Gate numbers and opening times, official shuttle routes, parking zones and fees, road closures and the areas where coaches may drop off or wait are set by the organisers and the Abu Dhabi authorities. When we read the official sites on 27 October 2026, none of them had published those details for this year, so we do not state them. Check the circuit’s current notice and the Abu Dhabi GP app, and send us what they say.
One more thing worth knowing. Last year the Abu Dhabi transport authority published its event transport plan on the first day of the event, 4 December 2025. If that pattern repeats, your group will have to book its vehicle before the official plan is out. That is a good reason to agree a flexible pick-up plan with us now and fine-tune it later.

Get a quoteYas Island is on the Dubai side of Abu Dhabi, close to Abu Dhabi airport and the Dubai to Abu Dhabi highway, so the route does not go through the city. Off-peak, our timings from Dubai are about 1 hour 10 minutes from Dubai Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah, about 1 hour 20 minutes from Downtown, DIFC and Business Bay, and about 1 hour 30 minutes from Deira and the airport area. Our Dubai to Yas Island page has the full breakdown for the everyday run.
Race weekend is not an everyday run. Expect the roads around Yas to fill before the sessions and again at the end. Plan for the longer figure, and add a margin on the way in. The way out is where the time goes. Salik applies in Dubai, and our Salik and Darb guide explains what a Yas run normally involves.
We are a private transport company, so we have an interest here, and we will be straight about it: a private vehicle is not the right answer for everyone. This is how the main options compare for a group.
| Option | Works well for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Public bus | One or two people, no luggage, flexible timing | The circuit’s general FAQ describes the route from Dubai as a bus from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station to the Abu Dhabi Bus Station, then the 190 to Yas Island. That is two legs, and a late finish may not suit the timetable. Check the current timetable. |
| Taxi or ride-hailing | Pairs, arriving off-peak | An intercity fare each way, and a long queue after the race |
| Driving yourself | One car, one driver who is not drinking | Parking, the exit queue and a 1 to 1.5 hour drive at the end of a long day. See Dubai to Abu Dhabi taxi cost if you are comparing. |
| Private van or coach with a driver | Five or more, hosted guests, a team or a company group | Needs a plan for the drop-off and the pick-up. Quoted for the route. |
If you are choosing between a van and a bigger bus, our vehicle size guide explains seats and luggage.
We have not seen an official plan for 2026, but last year’s is a fair guide to the type of arrangements an event this size uses. The Integrated Transport Centre said that for the 2025 race it ran a Yas circular bus from Yas Mall (at the Tryano Gate) and the Warner Bros. car parks to the circuit gates, the Yas Island hotels and the entertainment area. It also set up two taxi pick-up and drop-off areas within the race zone and surrounding event areas, and used monitoring to spot vehicles stopping illegally in pick-up and drop-off areas.
Two things follow for a group in a private vehicle. First, the pick-up and drop-off areas are controlled, so a driver cannot simply wait at the gate. Second, whether a private minibus or coach can use any of those areas, or must use a different one, is the organisers’ decision for the year. We do not assume. We agree a drop-off and a separate pick-up spot with you, and the driver confirms both against the current notice. Where the plan changes, we change the spot, not the group.
The organisers also list an official after-party at Yas Gateway Park on 4 December, so check that the plan fits the evenings your group will actually be out.
For four to six guests, the Mercedes V-Class keeps the party together. For up to sixteen, the Mercedes Sprinter has a better finish than a standard minibus, which suits hosts. A group of around ten can use the 13-seater van. For a company outing of 20 to 30, take the 30-seater mini coach, and for more than that, the 50-seater coach keeps everyone in one vehicle. Our coach rental and minibus rental pages have more.
Starting day rates for each vehicle are in the table below. They are rates for a full day within Dubai. A Grand Prix run to Abu Dhabi is quoted for the route and the hours, so the written quote, not the table, is your price.
Agree three things with the driver before the day. Where you are dropped. Where you will be collected, which does not have to be the same place and is often better a short walk from the busiest exit. And what time the group wants to leave, with a fallback if the finish runs late.
The group leader keeps the driver’s mobile number, and the driver keeps the leader’s. When the group is ready, one message brings the vehicle round. After the race the crowd leaves in a single wave, so do not plan a tight dinner or a flight the same night.
Hold your ticket and any hospitality pass on your phone. If your pass comes with vehicle access rules, send them to us. Whether a given vehicle can enter a zone is for the organisers to decide.
Example: a company hosts 14 clients and staff on race day. They stay at hotels in Dubai Marina and Downtown. A Sprinter collects the Marina group, picks up the Downtown guests on the way, and sets everyone down at the agreed drop-off with time to spare before the sessions they have tickets for. The driver waits nearby. After the finish the host messages, the driver comes to the agreed spot, and the group is back at the hotels late that night.
That is one vehicle and one driver on a quoted day. The written quote lists the vehicle, the route, the hours, the waiting time and any Salik or parking charges before you accept it.
Send the date, the number of guests, the hotels or addresses, the days of the weekend you are attending and your mobile number through the booking page. We reply with a written quote. December is also peak season in Dubai, and race weekend is the busiest few days of it, so book as early as you can. For other big nights, see event transport in Dubai, sports team and tournament transport and Coca-Cola Arena transport. If your group also wants a day at the mosque, read our Grand Mosque day trip from Dubai.

Quick answers for this trip.
The organisers’ site shows 3 to 6 December 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit. Formula 1 lists the track sessions from 4 December, with qualifying on 5 December and the race on Sunday 6 December.
About 1 hour 10 to 1 hour 30 minutes off-peak, depending on where in Dubai you start. Race weekend traffic adds time, especially at the end of the day.
That depends on the organisers’ arrangements for the year. We agree a drop-off and a separate pick-up spot with you, and the driver confirms both against the circuit’s current notice. We do not assume access.
We have not seen an official 2026 shuttle from Dubai. The circuit’s general FAQ describes a public bus route from Dubai via the Abu Dhabi Bus Station. Check the current notice for anything the organisers add.
Usually away from the entrance, at a spot agreed with you. The pick-up and drop-off areas at big events are controlled, so a driver does not wait in them.
Yes. The vehicle can drop the group and return at an agreed time, or the driver can wait nearby. The written quote shows the hours it covers.
No. We provide the vehicle, the driver and fuel. Tickets and hospitality are bought from the organisers or an authorised seller.
The 13-seater van or a Mercedes Sprinter. The van keeps everyone together, and the Sprinter is the choice for hosts who care about the finish.
Yes. Send us the dates and the plan, and every day goes on one quote with the hours for each.
As soon as your tickets are confirmed. December is peak season and race weekend is its busiest stretch, so larger vehicles go first.
