Race night, and the way back to Dubai.
The race starts at 17:00 local time. The drive back to Dubai takes approximately 60 to 95 minutes on a quiet night, and Sunday at Yas Marina Circuit will not be a quiet night. Here is how to plan the return, and what the organisers have not published yet.

Sunday 6 December in outline
The race is the last session of the weekend. Formula 1 publishes the start as 13:00 UTC, which is 17:00 in the UAE, where clocks stay four hours ahead of UTC all year. The race is 58 laps of a 5.281 km lap, 306.188 km in total. The organisers’ own weekend guide lists an Etihad Airways flyover, fireworks and the podium on race day, then the Sunday concert at Etihad Live and the official after-parties.
What we cannot give you is a finish time, a concert start time or the gate times for the day. None of them was published when we checked on 29 October 2026. Your ticket and the Abu Dhabi GP app carry the gate information for your seat. Treat them as the source, and send us anything that changes where the pick-up should be.

Get a quoteThe exit plan: not published for 2026
We found no published 2026 exit plan. No official page we read gives post-race road closures, shuttle routes and hours, taxi and ride-hailing zones, or an area where coaches and private minibuses may wait and collect. Whether a private vehicle may share the taxi zones is also unanswered. We will not fill that gap with a guess.
There is one precedent, and it is last year’s. Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre published its plan for the 2025 race on Thursday 4 December 2025, the first day of that event. It described a Yas circular bus from Yas Mall (the Tryano Gate) and the Warner Bros. car parks to the circuit gates, the island hotels and the entertainment area. It set two taxi pick-up and drop-off areas inside the race zone and the surrounding event areas. It also said vehicles stopping illegally on roads and in those pick-up and drop-off areas would be picked up by number-plate detection, and that supervisors would direct visitors to designated car parks and taxi and public bus stands.
Read that as a pattern, not a promise. If the 2026 plan appears in race week again, a group will have booked its vehicle before it can see the exit. So the plan below works without the official detail and gets adjusted once the detail is out. Our main Abu Dhabi Grand Prix guide covers the whole weekend; this page is only about Sunday night.
The drive back to Dubai
These figures are approximate. Yas Island’s official pages put Dubai at 45 to 75 minutes away, measured from different points. A routing check from the circuit to the usual Dubai hotel areas, with no traffic at all, gives the ranges below. Neither includes a post-race crowd. Nobody publishes an event-day figure, so add a margin, and add it again for the first hour after the finish.
| Dropping at | Approximate drive, no event traffic |
|---|---|
| Dubai Marina and JBR | 60 to 75 minutes |
| Palm Jumeirah | 70 to 85 minutes |
| Downtown Dubai | 75 to 90 minutes |
| Deira | 80 to 95 minutes |
| Dubai International Airport | 75 to 90 minutes |
Abu Dhabi’s Darb toll system has had a Ghantoot gate on the E11 since May 2026, working 24 hours a day, and Dubai’s Salik is a separate system. Depending on the road used, a run may cross one or both. We list road charges as written lines in the quote, so they are not a surprise at midnight. Our Dubai to Yas Island page covers the everyday run.
Where to meet the driver
- Choose a meeting point that is not the busiest exit. A short walk from the main flow usually costs less time than the queue beside it.
- Agree a second point as well, in case the first is closed or crowded.
- Use the Wayfinding map in the Abu Dhabi GP app to name each spot, and send the driver a pin or a description in plain words.
- Expect that a driver cannot wait inside a taxi pick-up area. Last year’s plan monitored those areas for vehicles stopping illegally, so we plan the wait elsewhere.
- Keep the driver’s mobile number in two places, and give the driver the group leader’s number too. One message when the group is ready brings the vehicle round.
- Our drivers do not hand out cards or flyers at the circuit. The organisers’ terms do not allow promotional material inside.
The honest limit is this. Until the organisers say where a minibus or coach may stop, any meeting point is a proposal. The driver checks it against the current notice, and if the plan changes, we change the spot, not the group.
If the night runs late
The chequered flag is not the end of Sunday. After it come the podium and the fireworks, and a group that stays for the concert is leaving after dark whatever we do. Three plans cover most groups.
- Straight home after the podium. The shortest night, but the exit will be at its heaviest, so give the drive an honest margin.
- Stay for the concert and return late. The vehicle either waits nearby or drops the group and comes back at an agreed time. The written quote shows the hours it covers, and our hourly chauffeur page explains how waiting time is quoted.
- Sleep on Yas Island or in Abu Dhabi and return on Monday. The late drive disappears. This is two one-way runs, which our Abu Dhabi transfers page describes. It suits anyone with a Monday flight.
One more option to rule out. Etihad Rail’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai stations are listed as open from 05:00 to 23:00 daily. We found no race-week extension and no last train time for 6 December, so do not build the night around a late train.
Phones, tickets and bags
Tickets are digital and live in the Abu Dhabi GP app. The organisers say screenshots and printouts are not accepted, so a flat phone on Sunday night is a problem for your gate and for your meeting plan. Charge it before you leave the hotel, and write the driver’s number down somewhere else.
The terms of entry say there are no cloakroom facilities at the circuit. Large backpacks, cooler boxes and drones are among the items on the banned list. A bag that cannot go in has to stay at the hotel or in the vehicle, and a vehicle that has moved to a different waiting spot takes the bag with it. Tell the driver what you are leaving on board.
Choosing the vehicle and booking
For up to sixteen guests, the Mercedes Sprinter keeps a hosted group together. A company or club outing of 20 to 30 suits the 30-seater mini coach. Our vehicle size guide compares seats and luggage space.
We are not an official transport provider for the event, and we do not sell tickets or hospitality. We provide the vehicle, the driver and fuel. Ask for a fixed written quote through the booking page, with the date, the number of guests, the hotels and the time you expect to leave. December is peak season, so ask early. For other big nights, see event transport in Dubai.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
What time does the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix start?
The race starts at 17:00 UAE time on Sunday 6 December 2026. Formula 1 publishes it as 13:00 UTC. The race is 58 laps. We found no official finish time.
Is there an official exit plan for 2026?
Not one we could find on 29 October 2026. Last year’s transport plan was published on the first day of the event, so a 2026 plan may also arrive late. Check the organisers’ current notice in race week.
Where will our driver collect us after the race?
At a spot agreed with you beforehand and checked against the current notice. We do not assume that coaches or minibuses can use the taxi zones. Read our weekend guide for the full weekend plan.
How long is the drive back to Dubai after the race?
Approximately 60 to 95 minutes with no event traffic, depending on where in Dubai you are going. Race night will be slower, and no source publishes by how much. See the Dubai to Yas Island page for the usual run.
Can the vehicle wait while we watch the race?
Yes, or it can drop you and return at an agreed time. Where it can wait is for the organisers to decide. The quote states the hours covered. Our hourly chauffeur page explains waiting time.
Can we stay in Abu Dhabi and return on Monday?
Yes. Each leg is quoted as a one-way run. See Abu Dhabi transfers. We do not book hotels.
Will there be a train after the race?
We found no race-week timetable and no late service. Etihad Rail’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai stations are listed open from 05:00 to 23:00 daily. Check Etihad Rail’s current notice before relying on it.
Do you sell tickets or hospitality?
No. We are not an official transport provider. We provide the vehicle, the driver and fuel. Tickets come from the organisers or their authorised sellers. Ask for a fixed written quote on the booking page.
