Dubai Fitness Challenge

Dubai Run group transport.

A running event starts before the city wakes up and closes the roads you would normally use. For a club, a school or a company team, the vehicle plan matters nearly as much as the training.

How to get a group to the Dubai Run

Book one vehicle for the whole team, collect everyone at the same place and time, and agree a drop-off point outside the road closures before race morning. Then agree a pick-up point and time after the finish, with a margin for photos and stretching. That plan works for a company of 12 and a running club of 40.

The Dubai Run is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, a month of community events that usually runs in the cooler months. Past editions of the run have used a closed section of Sheikh Zayed Road, with the traffic stopped for the morning. The dates, routes and start times change each year and are published by the organisers, so check the official event page and send us what you find. We plan around the published access and parking information, not around guesses.

Why a group vehicle helps on race morning

Runners arrive early and in a cluster. Taxis queue at the same drop-off points, parking near the start is limited, and the Metro, although useful, does not carry a team and its bags together at a fixed time. A single vehicle means nobody is missing at the start line, and everyone has somewhere to leave their bag and warm layers within reach.

It also helps the return. After a 10 km run in the heat, a cool vehicle with water waiting is worth more than an hour of looking for a taxi.

The morning, step by step

  1. Pick-up: early, often before sunrise, from a hotel, office or one meeting point. Allow for stragglers, and tell the team the time is the time the doors close.
  2. Drive: roads that are normally busy are quiet at that hour, then close near the start. The driver follows the organiser’s access route.
  3. Drop-off: at the last point a vehicle can stop, agreed ahead. Walk the final stretch with the team and take a photograph of the spot.
  4. Bag drop: use the organiser’s facilities if they have them. Otherwise one person can stay with the vehicle with the bags, or the bags can stay in the vehicle at its waiting point.
  5. Finish: allow time. Meet at the pick-up point, not at the finish line, because the crowd there moves slowly.

Remember that the run may not be the only closure. Some years there are road closures for other events or cycling days in the same period, so check the whole month of the challenge when planning another outing.

Which vehicle for which team

Up to seven people fit the Mercedes V-Class. Eight to 13 fit the 13-seater van, which holds about 10 bags. For up to 16, the Mercedes Sprinter, with space for about 12 bags. A larger club or a school group takes the 30-seater mini coach, and a big company turnout the 50-seater coach.

Runners carry less than a football squad, but bags add up: a kit bag, a change of clothes, water and sometimes a child’s buggy. Count them with the people. Bicycles are a different matter. Our passenger vehicles are not bike carriers, so if your event involves cycles, tell us before you book and we will say honestly what is possible.

For reference, full-day rates up to 10 hours with driver and fuel start from AED 900 for the 13-seater van, AED 2,450 for the Sprinter, AED 1,100 for the 30-seater mini coach and AED 1,450 for the 50-seater coach. A morning run is a short booking, and the written quote shows the hours it covers.

Examples

Example one: a company team of 14 from offices in Business Bay. A Sprinter collects at 5:15 am, drops at the agreed point at 5:50 and returns for them at 9:30. The same vehicle takes the team to breakfast and back to work.

Example two: a school running group of 28 children and 5 adults from a school in Al Barsha. A 30-seater mini coach, because the school wants one driver and one headcount. See our school trip bus cost guide for how schools are quoted.

Example three: two running clubs on one booking, 9 and 11 people, from different districts. Two 13-seater vans with a shared drop-off time, so both arrive at the same gate together.

Other fitness events and how to plan them

The same plan works for other organised runs, charity walks and sports days in Dubai: find the published access route, agree one drop-off and one pick-up point, and set the pick-up for after the crowd. For longer tournaments see team and tournament transport, and for a staff day out see event transport.

Heat is the other planning point. Even in the cooler months, a late finish in direct sun is tiring. Keep water and a cool vehicle at the pick-up point.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

How do I get to the Dubai Run with a group?

Book one vehicle for the team, collect everyone at one place and agree a drop-off point outside the road closures. Send us the organiser’s access and parking information and we plan around it.

Can a coach drop us at the start line?

Usually not exactly at the line. Roads near the start close, so the driver stops at the last permitted point and you walk the final stretch.

What time should the pick-up be?

Before the roads close and with enough time to reach the start and warm up. For an early start that often means leaving well before sunrise.

Where do we leave our bags?

Use the organiser’s bag drop if there is one. If not, the bags can stay in the vehicle at its waiting point, with the driver.

Can you carry bicycles?

Our vehicles are passenger vehicles and not bike carriers. Tell us about cycles before you book so we can say what is possible.

What size vehicle does a running club need?

A 13-seater van for up to 13, a Sprinter for up to 16, a 30-seater mini coach for up to 30 and a 50-seater coach for larger groups. Count bags as well as people.

Are dates and routes the same every year?

No. They are set and published by the organisers each year, so check the official event information before you book.
