Dubai 7s for UK and Irish fans.
Rugby supporters from the UK and Ireland have a long relationship with this festival. If you are planning the trip, here is what the weekend looks like, where to read the official travel advice for your country, and how a private vehicle might fit between the airport, the hotel and the stadium.

First, check the official advice for your country
Before you book anything, read your own government’s page for the UAE. We do not give safety advice and we do not state entry rules. The pages change, so read the current version before you book and again before you fly.
- UK: the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office page is at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/united-arab-emirates, with an entry requirements section. When we read it on 29 October 2026 it said it had been updated on 27 October. It also notes that flights and airspace can change at short notice.
- Ireland: the Department of Foreign Affairs page is at ireland.ie/en/dfa/overseas-travel/advice/united-arab-emirates. It showed an update date of 1 October 2026 when we read it. Read it in full.
If the advice and your plans do not match, the decision is yours. Check your airline, your insurer and your ticket terms. The organisers say tickets are non-refundable unless the organiser cancels.

The festival runs from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November 2026 at The Sevens Stadium, on the E66 Dubai to Al Ain road. The organisers say more than 80,000 people attend each year. HSBC SVNS 3 starts on Pitch 1 on the Friday, with the finals on Saturday. The top-tier play-offs and the men’s and women’s finals follow on Sunday, with the finals from 19:35.
The England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland teams are not in the top-tier lists that the organisers publish, so the draw for many UK and Irish visitors is the festival around the rugby: the invitational rugby, which has 17 divisions on eight fields, the music, the fancy dress and the day out. The organisers also list Gaelic football and cricket on site. The 2026 fancy dress theme is Around the World, and there is a contest on Saturday. If your club is entering an invitational division, ask the organisers and read our sports team transport guide.
Last entry to the site is 8pm and there is no entry or re-entry after 9pm. Tickets are digital in the event app wallet. ID is needed to buy alcohol, so check the organisers’ FAQ for what they accept.
Arrival patterns from the UK and Ireland
Dubai is four hours ahead of London and Dublin in late November. The UAE does not change its clocks. We have not researched airline schedules, so we cannot tell you which flights land when. Here are the arrival shapes we plan for, which depend only on your flight number.
| You land | Typical plan | Think about |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday 26, any time | Airport to hotel, rest, first day on Friday | Friday has rugby, so check whether you want it |
| Friday morning | Hotel first, bags off, then stadium after check-in | Rooms may not be ready. The stadium has no lockers. |
| Friday afternoon or evening | Hotel and an early night, start properly on Saturday | Last entry is 8pm |
| Saturday morning | Hotel, then straight into the afternoon and evening programme | Saturday has the fancy dress contest and the longest day |
The short version on drive times: the organisers give 28 minutes from Dubai International, and the stadium site gives about 30 from Al Maktoum. Quiet-road figures only.
Where transport fits
You have several choices once you are in Dubai. The organisers run free buses from the stadium on all three days, every 15 minutes from 7pm to 1.30am, to DMCC Metro in JLT, Sports City, Studio City, Financial Centre Metro in DIFC and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. There are RTA taxis and an app pick-up point. We found no free bus to the stadium and no Metro station at it.
A private vehicle suits a group of friends or a club that wants to arrive and leave together, with the bags dealt with at the hotel first. We provide the vehicle, a driver and fuel. We are not an official provider for the event, and other companies sell the organisers’ own transfer packages. If you bought one, use it.
Ask for a fixed written quote that lists the hours. Groups of five to seven fit a Mercedes V-Class. Eight to thirteen fit the 13-seater van, and a touring squad of twenty to thirty can use the 30-seater mini coach.
A sensible order for the trip
- Read your government’s advice, then book flights and a hotel with terms you can live with.
- Send us the flight numbers and hotel name when they are set. We track the flights.
- Install the event app and log in at home. Your ticket lives in it.
- Pack a power bank. There are no lockers, backpacks are scanned and everything runs on a phone.
- Leave Sunday night clear. The finals start at 19:35, and the free buses end at 1.30am and do not go to an airport.
A Monday morning flight home with a hotel pick-up is the simplest ending. For the rest of the weekend, our group transport guide sets out the options.
Staying somewhere other than the stadium side
Most visitors stay in the Marina, Downtown or near the airport. The organisers give 35 minutes from Dubai Marina and 29 from Business Bay, off-peak. In 2024 the RTA warned of delays on the roads to the stadium on the festival days, and we found no 2026 notice yet, so check rta.ae nearer the time.
If your group is large, read our event transport page and the hotel group transfers guide. For arrival help beyond the festival, the airport chauffeur service suits two or three travellers. When you are ready, use the booking page and give the dates, the number of people and the airport code on every ticket.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
Are the English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish teams playing?
The organisers’ published top-tier lists for the men and women do not include them. The top-tier men are Argentina, Australia, Fiji, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and the USA. Many UK and Irish visitors come for the festival itself.
Is it safe to travel?
We do not make safety statements. Read the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office page or the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs page, both linked above, before you book and before you fly.
Do I need a visa?
Entry rules depend on your passport and can change. Use the entry requirements on your government’s page or the UAE government sources. We do not state them.
How do I get from the airport to the stadium?
The organisers give 28 minutes from Dubai International, off-peak. There is no Metro at the stadium that we could find, so many groups use a pre-booked vehicle. See our airport transfer page for the airport end.
What time is it in Dubai compared with home?
Four hours ahead of London and Dublin in late November. The UAE does not change its clocks.
Can I buy alcohol at the 7s?
The event sells it, and ID is needed to buy it. Check the organisers’ FAQ for the current rules.
Can you get us to the stadium and back after the finals?
Yes, as a private vehicle with a driver. The finals start at 19:35 on Sunday. We agree a pick-up spot with you and check the organiser’s notice. See the group transport guide.
Do you sell tickets?
No. Tickets are digital and come from the organisers or an authorised seller. We provide the vehicle, the driver and fuel, and we are not an official or appointed provider.
