The Dubai 7s weekend, day by day.
Most people who fly in for the Emirates Dubai 7s plan the rugby and forget the rest: the drive out, the gap in the afternoon, the queue at the end of the night. This is a three-day plan built on the programme the organisers have published, with the places where a driver makes the day easier.

What the schedule tells us
The organisers have confirmed three things that shape a plan. HSBC SVNS 3 starts on Friday 27 November on Pitch 1, the first time international rugby has opened the festival. On Saturday 28 November the top-tier pool matches begin at 10am and the last one starts at 8:22pm. On Sunday 29 November the play-offs and semi-finals lead into the men’s and women’s finals from 19:35, with the trophy presentation in the evening.
Two entry rules matter just as much. Last entry to the site is 8pm, and nobody gets back in after 9pm. You can leave and return earlier in the day with your digital ticket. Tickets live in the event app wallet, so a plan that has the group arriving at 8:30pm for the finals does not work.
We sell neither tickets nor hospitality, and we have nothing to do with the organisers. What we run is the vehicle and the driver. This page is about the hours around the matches.

Get a quoteThursday 26 November: arrive and settle
If you land the day before, keep Thursday simple. There are no lockers at the stadium, so luggage goes to the hotel first, not to the festival. A group arriving at Dubai International can read our big group arrival guide, and if your flight uses Al Maktoum airport, the DWC transfer page covers that terminal.
Use the evening to check the basics. Everyone installs the event app and signs in, and everyone knows which hotel lobby the group meets in. Screenshots of tickets do not scan, the organisers say.
Friday 27 November: the opening day
Friday has the least published detail, so treat it as a lighter day. The organisers list international SVNS rugby on Pitch 1, local and invitational sport, youth tournament finals, a fitness event called WODON3 and a Family Friday kids’ zone. We could not find kick-off times for Friday, so check the organiser’s schedule page and the app before you fix a departure.
For a first day, a mid-morning start works for most groups. Drive time from the hotel is the part you can control. The organisers give off-peak figures of 28 minutes from Dubai International, 29 from Business Bay and 35 from Dubai Marina. Downtown is about 30 minutes, according to the event’s travel partner ES Sport. Deira is roughly 30 to 35 minutes by our own estimate, approximate and without traffic, from OpenStreetMap routing. Google Maps on the day will differ.
A driver who drops the group at 10:30 and collects at 17:30 needs fewer hours than one who waits all day, and Friday suits that. Families can use the kids’ zone, which runs from 10am to 6pm, and still be back at the hotel for the evening.
Saturday 28 November: the long day
Saturday is the day to plan properly. The pool matches start at 10am and run until 8:22pm, with the finals of HSBC SVNS 3 on Pitch 1 and the remaining matches on Pitch 2. It is also the fancy dress contest day, and the 2026 theme is “Around the World”.
The organisers named a handful of matches in their 26 October schedule, and the times show where the gaps fall. Women’s USA v Spain is 10:00, New Zealand v Japan 11:06, men’s South Africa v Argentina 11:52, New Zealand v Fiji 12:36, women’s Australia v USA 13:22, men’s South Africa v Australia 14:55. After that, among the matches the organisers named, the next are women’s New Zealand v Fiji at 18:52 and men’s New Zealand v France at 20:22. That is a gap of nearly four hours.
The full programme has more matches than those, so check it before you plan around a gap. If a long afternoon does open up, it is the moment to go back to the hotel, change, eat and return. Re-entry is allowed before 9pm, and a booked driver turns that from a taxi lottery into a plain there and back.
The free festival buses start at 7pm, so they do nothing for an afternoon break. They run from the stadium only, every 15 minutes until 1:30am, to DMCC Metro in JLT, Sports City, Studio City, Financial Centre Metro in DIFC and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. We found no free bus to the stadium.
Sunday 29 November: finals night
Sunday builds to the finals from 19:35. A morning arrival suits groups that want the play-offs and semi-finals, and an afternoon arrival suits groups that want the finals and the trophy presentation. Remember that last entry is 8pm. If the group has tickets for the evening only, arrive well before it, and do not count on the finals start to carry you through the gate.
The exit is the hard part. A full stadium empties at roughly the same time, and the free buses, the RTA taxi rank and the ride-hailing pick-up point all fill together. A vehicle you have booked for a fixed pick-up spot, agreed before the day, moves the whole group out of that crush. If someone has an early flight on Monday, say so when you book, and the driver will plan the return around it.
We cannot promise a coach may stop or wait at any particular gate. The organisers have not published arrangements for hired coaches that we could find, so we agree a drop-off and a collection point with you and check the organiser’s current notice. In 2024 the RTA warned of delays on the Dubai to Al Ain road during event days, so check rta.ae nearer the date. We have not found a 2026 notice yet.
When a driver helps, and when it does not
A driver is not for everyone. A couple with two tickets and a hotel in JLT can use the free bus home and a taxi out. A group of six with a flight on Monday morning is a different case.
| Moment | Taxi or free bus | Pre-booked driver |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel to stadium, morning | Works for pairs. A group splits across cars. | One vehicle, one arrival time |
| Afternoon break at the hotel | Free bus not running yet. Taxi queue. | Booked run there and back |
| Evening exit, Saturday and Sunday | Free bus to five fixed stops. Taxi rank queue. | Agreed pick-up spot, straight to the hotel |
| Children in the group | Waiting in a queue after 9pm | Youngest first, vehicle ready |
Our guide to Emirates Dubai 7s group transport covers the free buses and the taxi rules in full.
Picking the vehicle
Five to seven people fit the Mercedes V-Class. Eight to thirteen fit the 13-seater van, and fourteen to sixteen the Mercedes Sprinter. A club or company of twenty to thirty suits the 30-seater mini coach, and larger parties take the 50-seater coach. Our vehicle size guide compares seats and bag space.
Staying three nights? One driver can cover all three days, with different hours each day. Ask about hourly chauffeur terms if you want a vehicle on call between matches.
Booking, and what to send
Late November is peak season in Dubai, and this weekend lands in it. Larger vehicles go first. Send us the days you want, the hotel or hotels, the number of people, the times you expect to leave and return, and a mobile number, through the booking page. We reply with a fixed written quote listing the hours and what is included.
For other events and group nights, see event transport in Dubai. For the government travel advice that applies to you, check your own government’s official page, for example the UK page. We do not give entry or visa advice.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
What time does the Dubai 7s finish on Sunday?
The organisers list the men’s and women’s finals from 19:35 on Sunday 29 November, with the trophy presentation in the evening. We have no published end time, so plan the return around the finals and ask your driver to wait for a message.
Can we arrive at the stadium after 8pm?
No. The organisers say last entry to the site is 8pm, and there is no entry or re-entry after 9pm. If you have an evening ticket, plan to be at the gate before 8pm.
Is it worth going back to the hotel on Saturday afternoon?
It can be. The organisers named a gap of several hours between the 14:55 match and the 18:52 match on their sample list, though the full schedule has other matches. Re-entry is allowed before 9pm with the digital ticket. Check the full programme in the event app first.
Does the free festival bus take us to the stadium?
We found nothing that describes a free bus to the stadium. The organisers list free buses from the stadium on all three days, 7pm to 1:30am, every 15 minutes, to five Dubai stops. They do not go to Sharjah, Abu Dhabi or Al Ain.
Can the driver wait at the gate?
We do not assume so. The organisers have not published arrangements for hired coaches or vans, so we agree a drop-off and a pick-up spot with you and check the organiser’s current notice before the day.
Can one driver cover all three days?
Yes. We quote each day for its own hours, so a short Friday and a long Saturday are priced separately on the same written quote. You send the days, the hotel and the numbers, and we reply with the plan.
What about luggage on the day?
There are no lockers at the stadium, per the organisers’ FAQ. Bags go to the hotel first. The driver can keep a coat or a flag on board if the vehicle is waiting nearby, but we agree that with you in advance.
Do you sell tickets for the Emirates Dubai 7s?
No. We sell vehicles with drivers. Tickets are digital and sit in the event app wallet, and the organisers say printed tickets are not accepted. Buy from the organisers or an authorised seller.

Plan the weekend, then book the driver.
