Event guide

Race Sunday, in your time zone.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix starts at 17:00 in the UAE. That is breakfast in New York, early afternoon in London and midnight in Sydney. If you are in Dubai for the finale, the harder question is not the clock. It is how to spend four days across an island that sits more than an hour down the road.

The race start in your time zone

Formula 1 publishes its session times in UTC. The UAE is four hours ahead of UTC and does not change its clocks. By December the UK and the US are on winter time, and Sydney and Melbourne are on summer time. The result for the race on Sunday 6 December is below.

WhereRace, Sunday 6 DecQualifying, Saturday 5 Dec

London13:0014:00
New York08:0009:00
Los Angeles05:0006:00
Sydney00:00 on Monday 7 Dec01:00 on Sunday 6 Dec

Elsewhere for the race: Chicago 07:00, Melbourne 00:00 on Monday, Brisbane 23:00 on Sunday and Perth 21:00 on Sunday. Australian readers should note the date line: the Sunday race in Dubai is a Monday event in Sydney and Melbourne.

In Dubai itself, the calls home work out like this in December. Dubai is four hours ahead of London, nine hours ahead of New York and seven hours behind Sydney. The family who wants to hear about it will be waking up, or going to bed, depending on where they live.

What each of the four days holds

The organisers run the event from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 December. Formula 1’s own page lists track sessions on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday only, so Thursday is the circuit’s opening day, not a race day. The table gives UAE local time.

A four-day plan with Dubai as your home

Plenty of overseas fans stay in Dubai for the week and make the finale a side trip. That is a sound plan, with one cost: every trip to Yas Island is approximately 60 to 95 minutes each way without event traffic, depending on the Dubai area you start from. Our Dubai to Yas Island page has the everyday run. Event days are slower, and nobody publishes by how much.

There are two honest ways to do it.

  • All four days from Dubai. You keep one hotel and one set of bags. You pay in hours: four round trips, with Thursday, Friday and Saturday ending late if you stay for the evening concerts. This suits a short trip, or a group of friends who want a pool day between sessions.
  • Two nights in Dubai, two on the island. Stay in Dubai on Thursday and Friday, then move to Yas Island or Abu Dhabi for Saturday and Sunday. The drive back after the race goes away, because Monday morning is the return. Our Abu Dhabi transfers page covers the one-way runs. We do not book hotels.

Whichever you choose, leave Dubai earlier than the session needs. Friday practice starts at 13:30, so leave Dubai in the morning. Saturday qualifying is at 18:00, so an early afternoon departure is enough. On Sunday, with the race at 17:00, leave around lunchtime and treat the margin as insurance against a slow road, not as wasted time.

Before you fly: the checklist

  • Visas. Rules depend on your passport, so check the official UAE government page and your airline before you book. We do not give visa advice.
  • Tickets. They are digital and held in the Abu Dhabi GP app. The organisers say screenshots and printouts are not accepted, and that scanning needs a Ticketmaster account with the region set to the UAE. They appear in the app about 24 hours after purchase. Tickets are not sold at the gate on the day. Buy only from the organisers or an authorised seller, because tickets from other sources may be refused.
  • Alcohol. Served in designated areas, to guests over 21 with valid photo ID.
  • Drones. Banned at the circuit, and the UAE has its own rules. Leave the drone at home.
  • Children. Aged two and under need no ticket, and aged three and over do.
  • Bags. The terms of entry say there is no cloakroom at the circuit, and large backpacks and cooler boxes are on the banned list.

Getting from the airport and around

Most overseas fans land at Dubai International and want the hotel first. Our airport transfer page and the guide to getting from Dubai airport to your hotel cover that leg. If you arrive on a long flight from the US or Australia and have a race ticket for the next afternoon, ask for the arrival time to be written into the quote so the driver tracks the flight.

For the circuit run, a party of four to six fits the Mercedes V-Class. A group of ten to twelve, say two families or a supporters’ club, fits the 13-seater van. If your time in Dubai also includes a city day, see the private minibus city tour.

What we do and do not do

We are a private transport company. We provide a vehicle, a driver and fuel. We are not an official transport provider for the event, and we do not sell tickets, hospitality or hotels. Where a coach may drop off and wait at the circuit is for the organisers to set, and when we checked, no 2026 plan was published. We confirm the drop-off and pick-up spots against the organisers’ current notice, and agree them with you before the day.

Ask for a fixed written quote through the booking page. Give the dates, the number in your party, your flight times and the hotel. December is peak season, and race weekend is its busiest stretch.
