Downtown to GITEX, near on Monday, far after.
A Downtown or Business Bay hotel is close to the Summit venue and a proper drive from the Expo. The week changes shape after the first day. This page compares the two, says what the Metro does well, and says where a vehicle of your own makes sense.

Your week has two different trips
GITEX Global 2026 starts with The GITEX Summit on Monday 7 December at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on Sheikh Zayed Road. The Expo and Conferences then move to the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City Dubai for Tuesday 8 to Friday 11 December. The Expo was at DWTC in earlier years and it has moved, so check any older note you hold.
From Downtown and Business Bay the two trips could hardly be more different. The Summit venue is on your doorstep. The Expo is across the city. Many groups book one plan for the week and then find Tuesday is a different journey from Monday. Build two plans from the start.
We are not the organiser’s transport provider and we do not sell tickets. Register for GITEX on the organiser’s own site, gitex.com. What follows is a private, pre-booked option that sits beside the Metro and the organiser’s shuttles.

Get a quoteMonday 7 December: the Summit at DWTC
Our free-flow route model puts Downtown about 8 minutes from DWTC and Business Bay about 8 minutes too, with about 5 and 7 km of road. Treat that as a lower bound. Allow roughly 15 to 30 minutes door to door on a show morning, the same planning range as on our DWTC event transport page.
The Red Line is the obvious choice. The organiser says World Trade Centre Station serves the Summit, and DWTC describes the station as on its own campus. The RTA station map, as we read it, lists World Trade Centre, Emirates Towers, Financial Centre and the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall stop as neighbours along the line. Confirm which station is nearest your hotel on the RTA map before you decide, because we have not checked each hotel. We found no official walking distance from the station to the Summit entrance.
The organiser lists Summit hours of 9:30 to 5:00. Check gitex.com for the day. You need a Nol card, and the RTA timetable has the last train for the evening.
For a Monday this short, a private vehicle is usually not the first thing to book. It earns its place in a few cases: a delegation with a fixed meeting time, a team carrying display material, a group that wants to leave together, or an evening that moves on from the Summit to dinner outside the Metro hours.
Tuesday to Friday: the Expo at Expo City
Now the numbers turn around. Our model gives about 32 minutes from Downtown and about 30 from Business Bay to the Dubai Exhibition Centre, with 34 to 37 km of road, and nothing in it for show-day traffic. For planning we use approximately 35 to 50 minutes, which matches our Expo City page. These are estimates, not official figures.
The Metro goes direct on one line. Expo 2020 Station is the end of the Red Line extension, and the organiser gives a walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes from the station to the venue. If two trains arrive at the same platform, take the one going to Expo 2020. We have no official journey time from Downtown or Business Bay, so check the RTA journey planner and add the walk at each end.
The organiser also runs shuttles: DWTC to DEC direct buses, overflow parking shuttles, hotel and exhibitor shuttles via the Transportation Hub, and destination buses. At the venue, the South Drop-Off serves the direct and event buses. The Transportation Hub serves destination buses, hotel buses, exhibitor shuttles and designated taxis. Ask your hotel whether it is in the organiser’s hotel programme, which lists a complimentary daily shuttle. We found no shuttle timetable or district pick-up list.
Which is easier by Metro?
| Day | Hotel to venue | Metro | When a vehicle helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon 7 Dec, Summit at DWTC | Short, about 8 minutes in a free-flow model | Easy. One line, with the Summit station on the DWTC campus | Fixed meeting times, kit, a late dinner |
| Tue 8 to Fri 11 Dec, Expo at Expo City | Longer, about 30 minutes in a free-flow model, planned at 35 to 50 | Direct on the Red Line, then a walk of 5 to 10 minutes | A team that wants to arrive together, bags, a late return |
The honest answer: Monday is easy by Metro, and Tuesday to Friday is workable by Metro for a person travelling alone. It becomes a chore for six people with laptops, boxes and a dinner afterwards. A team that wants to speak on the way to the venue, or a leader who wants everyone on the stand at the same minute, is the case for a vehicle.
The move between the two venues
If your group goes from the Summit straight to a different plan on Tuesday, remember DWTC and Expo City are not walkable from each other. By road the gap is about 40 km, roughly 36 minutes free flow, so allow more. The organiser’s direct shuttle and the Red Line both cover it. For a group that wants its own timing, one vehicle for that move is a sensible use. Tell us both days when you ask for a quote.
What a private vehicle adds
Our service is a vehicle and a driver, booked in advance on a fixed written quote. The driver is given the pick-up point, the time and the group leader’s mobile number, and messages when the vehicle is outside. We do not know whether a coach, minibus or chauffeur car may use the South Drop-Off or the Transportation Hub, because the organiser has not published a rule for private hire vehicles. It says private vehicles may drop off only at designated locations and to follow the marshals. We confirm the drop-off against its access plan before the day.
For vehicle sizes, a small executive team suits the Mercedes V-Class and a larger team the 13-seater van or Mercedes Sprinter. For a company with 20 or more guests, the 30-seater mini coach is the next step. If a finance team needs one account for the week, see corporate chauffeur. For long days with several stops, our hourly chauffeur service is quoted by the hour.
Before you book, check entry rules for your passport on the official UAE government visa page and the organiser’s visa section. We do not give visa advice. December is peak season, so ask early. Use the booking page with your hotel, the days you attend and the number of people.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
Where is GITEX held in December 2026?
The Summit is on Monday 7 December at Dubai World Trade Centre. The Expo and Conferences run Tuesday 8 to Friday 11 December at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai.
How far is Downtown from the Summit venue?
Very close. Our free-flow model gives about 8 minutes by road. Allow approximately 15 to 30 minutes door to door on a show morning.
How long is the drive from Business Bay to Expo City?
About 30 minutes in our free-flow model. For planning, use approximately 35 to 50 minutes and add time on show days. It is not an official figure.
Is the Metro enough for the Expo days?
For one person, often yes. The Red Line ends at Expo 2020 Station and the organiser gives a walk of approximately 5 to 10 minutes. A larger team with bags may prefer one vehicle.
Does my hotel have the organiser’s shuttle?
Only hotels in the organiser’s hotel programme list one. Ask your hotel for the pick-up point and the times. We found no published timetable.
Are you the official GITEX transport provider?
No. We are not the organiser’s transport provider. Our vehicles are a separate private booking.
Can you do both venues in one booking?
Yes. Give us both days and both pick-up points and we write one fixed quote, with the move between the venues listed.
Do you sell GITEX tickets?
No. Register on gitex.com. We provide the vehicle and the driver.

Staying Downtown? Plan Monday and Tuesday separately.
