A tour operator booking a Chinese group for Dubai is usually planning a tight, full programme with a tour guide on the microphone. The coach has to fit around that guide, the shopping stops and the airport days. Here is how we plan it.
Your reference
Most enquiries for this kind of group come from a tour operator or travel agency, often one that works with a local guide, not from the guests. If that is you, you are probably comparing coach operators on three points: the vehicle that fits your headcount and luggage, the price, and how reliably the coach turns up when the guide says it should.
We are a transport company with drivers. We do not sell tours, attraction tickets, hotel rooms or visas. Your agency and your guide own the programme. We bring the vehicle, the driver and fuel, we follow your timings, and we put the price in writing first.
Prices depend on the date and group size. Get yours in a minute.
Get my priceOn a tour group coach there are two people at the front and their jobs are different. The guide holds the programme, counts the guests, talks on the PA and speaks to the venues. The driver handles the vehicle, the luggage hold, the route and the parking. When both sides know this, the day runs without the driver being asked to make decisions about timings, and without the guide waiting for a coach that has been moved on by a car park attendant.
Please send the guide’s name and mobile number with the booking, so the driver can reach the guide directly if there is a gate or a car park that needs a decision. We confirm our driver’s name and details the day before. We do not promise a driver who speaks Mandarin, so plan for the guide to translate.
A sightseeing day has several stops of 30 to 90 minutes with a coach waiting at each, and the day rate covers up to 10 hours. A shopping day looks calmer on paper but is harder on the clock. Groups often lose an hour at a mall without noticing, and the coach is parked in a car park a good walk from the meeting point.
Two habits help. First, agree one fixed meeting point for the coach at each stop, in the quote or in the day plan, and give the group a photo of it. Second, add a buffer of 15 to 20 minutes at the end of every shopping stop. Dubai malls are large, and a group of forty does not leave together.
Shopping tends to increase luggage in the final days. If your group arrives with one medium case each and leaves with two, the departure coach needs more hold space than the arrival coach. The 50-seater holds about one medium suitcase per passenger under the floor, and a full coach with extra bags can overflow. The solution is a second vehicle, or a smaller group per coach.
| Group | Arrival | Departure with extra bags |
|---|---|---|
| 24 guests | One mini coach | Mini coach, plus a 13-seater van for the extra bags |
| 40 guests | One 50-seater | 50-seater, plus a van for the extra bags |
| 80 guests | Two 50-seaters | Two 50-seaters, plus a Sprinter for the extra bags |
These are sizing examples only. Your written quote names the vehicles and confirms the exact price for your date, route and hours.
The coach is at the hotel at 08:00. The guide takes the group to the old part of the city for the morning, then a lunch stop, then the shopping stop, then back to the hotel by 17:00. That is nine hours in the vehicle’s day, within the 10-hour day rate. The starting price for a 50-seater is AED 1,450 per day with driver and fuel, so an example like this starts there, and your written quote confirms the exact figure.
If the guide extends the shopping stop by two hours, the day goes over 10 hours and overtime applies. The driver tells the guide when the hours are about to run out so the decision is made on the spot and not in the invoice.
The day a group lands is when most of the problems appear. Several flights, long immigration queues and a hotel that is not ready are normal. Give us the flight numbers, and the driver tracks the landing time and waits in arrivals. For groups over 40, read the big group arrival guide, which explains how we plan waves and what to do when the group leaves the hall in pieces.
For beachfront hotels, see DXB to JBR, and for hotels beside the creek, DXB to Deira and Bur Dubai. Flight times from mainland China to Dubai vary a great deal by city and airline, and Dubai is about 4 hours behind Beijing time. Check your airline for your own routing. Quote times we send are always in UAE local time, so the guide should check the clocks on the first morning.
Group sizes in this market range widely, from a family party of 15 to organised groups of 40 to 100. Peak periods around national holidays in China can bring several groups at once, which means coaches in Dubai can be busy on the same dates. If your dates fall near a holiday period, ask early. Check the organiser or venue for dates, opening hours and entry rules at each stop, because they change.
The cooler months are the busiest in Dubai overall, and our peak season guide shows what to expect from traffic and hotels. In summer, most outdoor stops move to the evening.
Many programmes add a day in Abu Dhabi for the grand mosque and a drive along the corniche. The drive from Dubai is about 1.5 hours each way, so the day rate covers it only if the stops are short. Our Grand Mosque day trip page explains how the day usually runs, and the Abu Dhabi transfers page covers one-way journeys.
Venues have dress and entry rules. The group leader should check the venue’s own page before the day.
Send the dates, the headcount, the hotels and the rough programme. Add the guide’s phone number, the flight numbers and the bag count. We reply with a fixed written quote. Starting rates for every vehicle are on the price page, and the coach rental page covers the two coach sizes in more detail. When you are ready, ask for a fixed written quote.
