The old quarters of Dubai were built for feet, boats and donkeys, not for coaches. A good plan puts the group on the coach where the roads are wide and on foot where they are not.
Your reference
If you are planning a group tour of old Dubai, start with one fact. The coach is a support vehicle, not the tour. The lanes of the old souks, the heritage district and the Creek-side walkways are for pedestrians. A coach can take the group close, drop them, move to a waiting place and collect them again, but it cannot drive through.
That shapes everything else: the order of the stops, the time at each, the number of people you can keep together, and the kind of shoes the group should wear. The sections below put these in order.
Prices depend on the date and group size. Get yours in a minute.
Get my priceOld Dubai means the two sides of Dubai Creek. On the Bur Dubai side are the historic district with its wind towers and courtyards, the museum area, the textile market and the waterfront at Al Seef. On the Deira side are the spice souk, the gold souk and the abra stations where small boats cross the Creek for a few dirhams.
A sensible route goes in one direction. Begin on the Bur Dubai side with the heritage district and museum, walk to the abra station, cross by boat, and spend the second half in the souks of Deira. The coach waits on one side and meets the group on the other, or the group returns by a second abra crossing. The driver needs to know the plan to choose parking.
Check the organiser or venue for museum opening hours and entry rules on your date. Hours differ on Fridays and public holidays.
This is the part that most operators skip. In the old districts, coach parking is limited and the streets are narrow and one way in places. Many of the best drop points are on a main road with a short stopping time. Waiting in the same place for an hour is not allowed, so the driver drops, leaves, and returns.
A good driver knows which drop point is closest to which attraction, where the coach may wait and how long the loop back takes. That is knowledge we put into the plan before the day. When you send us the stops in order, we confirm drop and pick-up points on the quote.
If you need to change the plan on the day, tell the driver by phone and allow 10 to 15 minutes for the coach to come back around.
| Segment | Rough walk | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Drop point to the heritage district | 5 to 10 minutes | Mostly flat, narrow lanes |
| Heritage district to the abra station | 10 to 15 minutes | Waterfront path, shade in places |
| Abra crossing | 5 to 10 minutes plus queue | Boats have a capacity, so a large group splits |
| Deira souks | 30 to 60 minutes of browsing | Crowded lanes, easy to lose people |
These are rough figures to help you plan, not measured times. Walking speed depends on the group. A party with older guests or a wheelchair user should drop the souk walk and choose a single stop with seating.
Heat shapes the day. In the summer months, start by 08:30 and finish the outdoor part by late morning. In the cooler months a late afternoon walk, ending with the lights on the Creek, is pleasant.
Souks are the place groups come apart. The leader should give each guest a card with the coach registration, the driver's number and the meeting point. Choose a landmark, not a street name, and set a time. A flag or an umbrella helps in the crowd.
Divide a large group into colour coded parties of 10 to 12, each with a deputy. The driver counts the heads on boarding, but only the leader knows who is missing.
Narrow approach roads favour the smaller coaches. A group of 17 to 30 fits the mini coach, which turns more easily and finds waiting space faster. Groups of 31 to 50 can use the 50-seater coach on the main roads. Smaller parties of 14 to 16 use the Sprinter, and up to 13 fit the 13-seater van.
Starting prices are on the price page: for example AED 1,100 per day for a mini coach within Dubai, for up to 10 hours with driver and fuel. A half day tour may be quoted by the hour. The written quote confirms the exact price for your date, route and hours.
This is an example. A mini coach collects 26 guests from three hotels in the Downtown area at 08:30. The drive to Bur Dubai takes about 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. The group walks the heritage district at 09:15, crosses the Creek by abra at 10:45 and browses the Deira souks until 12:15. The coach meets them at a main road drop point and takes them to lunch, then back to the hotels by about 14:30.
For a wider city programme, see the Dubai city tour by minibus guide. If your trip also takes in the sights of the new city, the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall page shows how that day runs.
Souks and heritage areas are working places. Ask the group to dress modestly, with covered shoulders and knees, and to ask permission before photographing shopkeepers or residents. Prices in the souks are often negotiable, and that is part of the experience, but we do not set or guide those prices.

Quick answers for this trip.
No. The lanes are for pedestrians. The coach drops the group at a nearby road, waits in a permitted place or returns later, and collects them at the agreed point.
A half day is enough for the heritage district, an abra crossing and the souks. A full day lets you add a museum, lunch by the Creek and a slower pace.
The mini coach suits most groups because it manoeuvres more easily. A 50-seater works on the main roads and for larger groups.
Hours vary by venue, day and season. Check the organiser or venue for your date.
Our driver does not act as a guide. The group leader or a tour operator arranges a guide, and the driver follows the plan.

No. The boats are paid for separately at the station. Check current fares and rules with the operator on the day.
Yes, with a shorter plan. Choose one or two stops with seating and let the coach carry them close to the entrance.
