Marina, JBR and Downtown to the marathon start.
Your hotel may be only 10 to 15 minutes from the start on an empty road. Race morning is not an empty road, and the clock is set by the organiser’s advice, not by the map. Here is the sum, area by area.

Which hotel areas, and how far
Most visitors to the Dubai Marathon on Sunday 17 January 2027 stay in Dubai Marina, JBR, Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai or Business Bay. The organiser’s hotel page names no hotels near the start, so we name none either and call none official. We use areas.
The figures below are our own estimates from OpenStreetMap routing to the Dubai Police Academy in Umm Suqeim, with free-flow roads, no traffic and no event closures. They are approximate, Google Maps on the day will differ, and the closures change the final stretch.
| Hotel area | Distance | Time, free-flow |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Marina | About 10 km | About 10 to 15 minutes |
| JBR, The Walk | About 15 km | About 10 to 15 minutes |
| Palm Jumeirah | About 15 km | About 15 to 20 minutes |
| Downtown Dubai | About 15 km | About 10 to 15 minutes |
| Business Bay | About 15 km | About 10 to 15 minutes |
They look close, and they are. The drive is not the problem. The time you must be at the start is, and the last stretch is on foot.

Get a quoteThe sum for a 6:30 am start
The organiser says to be at your start at least one hour before it begins. Taxi users are told to plan to arrive at least 90 minutes before. For the 6:30 am masses start, that puts you at the start area by 5:30 at the latest, or around 5:00 if you come by taxi.
Add the drive of 10 to 20 minutes, a walk from the drop-off, and a margin for a late runner. A group would leave the hotel lobby at about 4:15 to 4:30 am. That is a planning example from the organiser’s advice, not a fixed rule, and your own lobby time depends on the area, the group and the notice for the day.
The other starts shift the sum. The elite marathon is at 5:45 am. The 10 km is at 8:00 am, so its runners are at the start area by about 7:00. The 4 km fun run is at 10:00 am, with a gentler morning. The organiser asks you to confirm your own start in its Final Instructions email.
Last year the RTA closed Abdullah Omran Taryam Street from 1 am, according to press coverage, and it opened the Metro at 5 am. Those are 2026 facts only. The 2027 closures and Metro hours are announced close to the date, and we do not quote them as this year’s.
What the organiser provides, before ours
The organiser’s routes come first.
- A taxi drop-off point before the race and a collection point after it, both on Al Wasl Road, booked in advance.
- The Metro to Mall of the Emirates, then a Metro bridge to the back of the starts.
- No public parking near the finish. The organiser strongly recommends public transport and warns against parking on Jumeirah Beach Road, in Al Sufouh, at Madinat Jumeirah or around the Police Academy.
One or two runners from a Marina hotel will do well with those. A hotel group is another case, which is why a private vehicle exists.
Group sizes and the right vehicle
We are Dubai Bus Services, a private company. We are not the organiser’s transport provider and we sell no race entries. The vehicle is booked on our own timing and agreed in writing.
Up to seven runners and supporters go in the Mercedes V-Class. Eight to 13 take the 13-seater van, and up to 16 the Mercedes Sprinter. A club or a charity team of 20 to 30 fits the 30-seater mini coach, and a tour group of up to 50 the 50-seater coach.
Count the bags. Marathon and 10 km runners carry one kit bag for the baggage cabins, and a supporter group adds jackets, water and a camera. Two hotels in different areas can share one booking if the times match. A coach loading at two lobbies is a longer route than a coach loading at one, so tell us both.
We do not know whether any coach or minibus may use the Al Wasl Road taxi point. The organiser publishes no coach bay. So we agree the drop-off and collection point with you and follow the organiser’s and the RTA’s notice for the day.
After the finish: the return
The organiser says to allow up to 40 minutes from the line to leaving the finish area with medal, water and kit bag. Marathon masses have a six-hour limit, which from the 6:30 start is about 12:30 pm. That is arithmetic, and the organiser does not state gun time or chip time.
Set the return by start wave. A 10 km group that starts at 8:00 am is out of the finish area long before the marathon runners. For a mixed hotel party, one vehicle at one agreed place and time works better than two phone calls from a car park. Write the place and the time down, since phones run flat.
If your runners then want a long breakfast or the beach, the hourly chauffeur option keeps the driver for a block of hours. Our team and tournament transport guide shows how a longer fixture is planned.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
How far is Dubai Marina from the Dubai Marathon start?
About 10 km, roughly 10 to 15 minutes on free-flow roads in our estimate. It is approximate, with no traffic and no closures, and the final stretch on race morning is on foot.
What time must I leave my hotel for the 6:30 am start?
The organiser says to be at the start at least one hour before, and 90 minutes for taxi users. For a 6:30 start, a group might leave the lobby at about 4:15 to 4:30 am. That is a planning example, not a fixed rule.
Do you name hotels near the start?
No. The organiser’s hotel page lists none near the start, so we speak of areas and name no hotel as official or as near the start.
Will the vehicle drop us at the start line?
Probably not exactly there. Roads around the finish close, and the organiser publishes no coach bay. We agree the drop-off point with you and follow the organiser’s and the RTA’s notice.
Can two hotels share one vehicle?
Yes, if the pick-up times match. Tell us both hotels and the headcount at each, and the quote shows both stops.
When should the return pick-up be?
Allow up to 40 minutes after the finish line to leave the finish area. Set the time by start wave, with a margin, and agree one meeting place in writing.
Are you the official transport for the race?
No. We are a private company, not appointed by the organiser, and we sell no entries. Our vehicles are booked separately from anything the organiser runs.
How much does a group vehicle cost?
Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the date, the group size, the hotels and the hours, and we put it in writing before you accept.

A group at one hotel? One lobby time.
