Downtown to the Sevens, one vehicle or two.

Downtown and Business Bay are the closest big hotel districts to The Sevens Stadium, and the drive is the easy part. The harder question is whether a free evening bus, a taxi or a vehicle of your own suits the group you have.

The drive from the middle of the city

The organisers list Business Bay at 29 minutes from The Sevens Stadium. They do not list Downtown Dubai, but ES Sport, which sells travel packages for the event, says about 30 minutes outside peak traffic. On a routing tool the road distance from Downtown comes out at around 35 km, about 30 to 35 minutes. That is approximate, without traffic, and Google Maps on the day will differ.

Compare that with Dubai Marina at 35 minutes. Downtown and Business Bay are among the quicker starts, which is why many groups choose them. The route usually follows Sheikh Zayed Road and then the E66 Dubai to Al Ain road, though we leave the exact way to the driver.

Quiet-road figures do not describe a festival evening. In 2024 the RTA warned of delays on the Dubai to Al Ain road from 4pm to 11pm on the Friday and from 10am to midnight on the Saturday and Sunday. That was 2024 and not 2026, and we have not found a 2026 notice. Check rta.ae nearer the date, and plan with room to spare.

Free festival buses against a vehicle of your own

The organisers run free buses from the stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, every 15 minutes, from 7pm to 1.30am. They stop at five places: DMCC Metro in JLT, Sports City, Studio City, Financial Centre Metro in DIFC and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. The bus station is through the arch to the left of the main exit.

For a Downtown group the useful stop is Financial Centre Metro in DIFC, the one of the five nearest to Downtown. From there you still have to get to the hotel by taxi, on foot or on the Metro. We could not find Metro operating hours for the festival nights, so check them if you plan to rely on it. The organisers list Metro stations only as bus stops. They do not name a Metro station at the stadium.

For two friends heading home after 10pm to DIFC, the free bus is hard to beat. For a group of twelve that wants to travel as one, it is a poor fit. The two answers can sit side by side. Some groups take our vehicle out and the free bus back, and others keep the vehicle for the return as well.

Splitting a group of mixed plans

A hotel group in Downtown is rarely one set of people. Some want the Saturday morning matches. Some arrive for the evening. A few go to the Sunday finals only. The ways we split the trips:

  • By time. A morning vehicle takes the early crowd and returns for the evening group. One driver, two runs, one set of hours on the quote.
  • By hotel. Business Bay has a cluster of hotels and Downtown has another. One vehicle collects from each in turn on the way out. For a large party we send one vehicle per hotel.
  • By return time. Everyone goes out together and the families come home at 6pm, when the kids’ cinema starts, and the rest stay on. Two return runs, one outward.

Tell us the hotel names and the times people want to leave, and we draw the runs up. Our hotel group transfers guide shows how we plan this for tour operators.

Rules that shape the plan

The organisers say last entry is 8pm and there is no entry or re-entry after 9pm, on all three days. Exit and re-entry earlier in the day is allowed with the digital ticket. For a Downtown group that gives a useful option: leave for a break at the hotel in the afternoon, then return before 8pm.

We did not find gate opening times, so we do not quote them. Tickets are digital in the event app wallet. Printed tickets are not accepted and screenshots do not scan, so the group should have the app open before leaving the vehicle.

The stadium has no lockers. Backpacks are allowed but scanned. Keep what you need small, and leave the rest in the vehicle only if the driver is able to wait, which depends on the stadium’s arrangements for coaches that we have not seen.

Business meetings, hosted guests and the Sunday finals

Business Bay and Downtown are full of offices, and the Sevens weekend is a popular day out for clients. A company that hosts guests can arrange a vehicle for the whole party, which saves the host arranging taxis for ten people. Read our corporate chauffeur page for how accounts and invoices work.

Sunday is the long one. The men’s and women’s finals start at 19:35 and the trophy presentation follows. A host who wants clients out by 10pm needs a plan for the crowd. Our group transport guide for the festival lists the options, and VIP events covers hosted guests. If the group is hosted in the organisers’ own hospitality area, use the arrangements they give you.

Which vehicle

A host with four to seven guests suits a luxury SUV or a Mercedes V-Class. A department of ten to thirteen fits the 13-seater van. Up to sixteen can use the Mercedes Sprinter. Hotel forecourts in Downtown can be tight for a full-size coach, so for twenty or more we often use the 30-seater mini coach.

We are an independent private-vehicle company. We are not an official provider and we do not sell tickets or event packages. Send the hotel names, the days, the number of guests and the times through the booking page and ask for a fixed written quote. Late November is peak season, so ask early.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

How long does it take from Business Bay to The Sevens Stadium?

The organisers give 29 minutes from Business Bay, off-peak. On the festival days the roads are slower, so plan for longer and check the RTA before you go.

How long from Downtown Dubai?

ES Sport, the event’s travel partner, says about 30 minutes outside peak traffic. A routing tool puts it at about 30 to 35 minutes and around 35 km. Both are approximate.

Is the free festival bus enough for a Downtown group?

It is free and runs every 15 minutes from 7pm to 1.30am, with a stop at Financial Centre Metro in DIFC. It starts at 7pm, goes only from the stadium, and drops at fixed points. A group that wants to travel as one often wants a vehicle.

Is there a Metro to the stadium?

We found no Metro station at or near the stadium on any official page. The organisers name Metro stations only as bus stops. See the group transport guide for what they do run.

Can part of the group go home early?

Yes. One vehicle can run twice, or two vehicles can leave at different times. The quote shows each run. Our event transport page explains how we plan this.

Can you take hosted guests from a company office?

Yes. Give us the pick-up point and the guest list. A company account is covered on the corporate chauffeur page.

Can we leave in the afternoon and return for the evening?

The organisers allow exit and re-entry earlier in the day with the digital ticket. Last entry is 8pm and there is no re-entry after 9pm.

What if the final runs late?

We quote the return by the hour and the driver stays in touch with the group leader. For hosted guests, see our VIP events page.
