Downtown hotels, two Gulfood venues.
A Downtown, Business Bay or DIFC hotel puts you close to one half of Gulfood and a real drive from the other. Which half you need depends on the food sectors on your buying list. This page shows what the Metro and the organiser already cover, then where a pre-booked vehicle helps.

Your food sectors decide the venue
Gulfood 2027 runs from Monday 15 to Friday 19 March 2027. The organiser, whose site is gulfood.com, now spreads the show over two sites: Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City Dubai. Gulfood 2026 was the first edition in this format and it ran in January, so any older itinerary with January dates or one venue is out of date.
The organiser publishes the split only as a floor plan image, so we read it by eye and you should check it on gulfood.com before you book. As we read it, DWTC carries beverages, fresh produce, power brands, dairy, seafood, meat and poultry, and logistics. DEC carries World Food, the Startup Zone, grocery trade, fats and oils, and rice, pulses and grains.
So a dairy and meat buyer can live at DWTC all week, a rice and grocery buyer lives at Expo City, and a buyer with a wide list needs both. From a Downtown hotel those are very different mornings. Settle the list of halls first. The cars come second.

We are a private company and we are not the organiser’s transport provider. Before you look at any private option, use what the venues already offer.
- DWTC has its own Metro station, World Trade Centre, on the Red Line. The venue describes direct access from Sheikh Zayed Road.
- DEC is served by Expo 2020 Station on the same line, which the venue calls a short walk away. Its visitor FAQ gives trains every 5 to 7 minutes off peak and every 3 to 4 minutes at peak.
- Taxis and ride-hailing have set drop-off areas. DWTC lists Careem and Uber pick-up and drop-off locations. At Expo City the taxi and car drop-off area is on Boulevard 2020 Street.
- Both venues have visitor parking, but we do not print counts or fees because the published figures disagree and Gulfood-week arrangements are not out yet.
In 2026 the organiser ran free shuttle buses between the two venues, and the RTA advised visitors to take the Metro. The 2027 site has no transport page yet, so we cannot say the same shuttle will run again. The organiser publishes this closer to the event, and gulfood.com is where to look. The Dubai Metro last train is on the RTA timetable. A buyers’ dinner can run past it, and we found no extended Metro hours for March 2027.
The Expo City visitor FAQ also warns of bag checks or screening, so leave a few minutes at the entrance on the first morning.
Downtown and Business Bay to DWTC
In a free-flow route model, Downtown is about 5 km and 8 minutes from DWTC, and Business Bay about 8 km and 9 minutes. That is a lower bound with no show traffic in it. For a Gulfood morning, plan roughly 15 to 30 minutes door to door and allow more at the start and end of the day.
The Metro is a strong choice here. One line, and the station sits on the DWTC campus. We have not checked which station is nearest each hotel, so look at the RTA map for yours. DWTC names a Za’abeel Entrance, a Convention Gate and an Exhibition Gate on a parking map it published for another show. Which gate serves which Gulfood sector in 2027 we could not find, so we do not guess.
DIFC is not in our route model. We give no minutes for it. Tell us the hotel and the day, and we work the run from the real address rather than from a district average.
Downtown and Business Bay to Expo City
The same model gives about 37 km and 32 minutes from Downtown to the Dubai Exhibition Centre, and about 34 km and 30 minutes from Business Bay. For planning, use approximately 35 to 50 minutes on a show morning. These are estimates, not organiser figures.
By Metro it is direct on the Red Line to Expo 2020, then the short walk to the halls. We have no published door-to-door Metro time from these districts. The RTA journey planner gives it for your hotel.
Expo City also has its own hotels, and the venue names three of them: Expo Village Serviced Apartments, Rove Hotel and Cheval Maison. If nearly all your meetings are at DEC, a base on site removes the road altogether. If you are already booked Downtown, this is the leg to plan.
Side by side
| Where you need to be | Road from Downtown or Business Bay | Metro | When a vehicle helps |
|---|---|---|---|
| DWTC, Sheikh Zayed Road | About 8 to 9 minutes free flow, plan 15 to 30 | Red Line to World Trade Centre, on the campus | Fixed meeting times, display material, a late dinner |
| DEC, Expo City | About 30 to 32 minutes free flow, plan 35 to 50 | Red Line to Expo 2020, then a short walk | A team arriving together, bags, a late return |
| DWTC to DEC in one day | About 40 km, 36 to 40 minutes modelled | Red Line between the two stations | One timetable for the whole group |
The honest summary: the Metro suits one buyer travelling light to either venue. It gets harder for six people with laptops, product literature and a dinner afterwards, and hardest on a day that begins at one venue and ends at the other.
The day that uses both venues
DWTC and Expo City are not walkable from each other. The road gap is about 40 km, which our model puts at 36 to 40 minutes before show traffic. Gulfood hours are 10:00 to 18:00 from 15 to 18 March and 10:00 to 17:00 on Friday 19 March, as the organiser lists them, so a buyer who wants both venues in one day has a tight middle.
Choose the venue for the morning and the venue for the afternoon, then plan the move. The Metro covers it. In 2026 the organiser also ran free shuttles between the two, and you can use them again if they run. Where we help is a group that wants its own timing and one driver who knows the plan. Our Expo City page and our DWTC event transport page describe the two venues from the vehicle side.
Where a private vehicle fits
We are not an official partner of Gulfood, DWTC, DEC or Expo City, and we sell no tickets, passes or badges. Register on gulfood.com. The organiser also warns about fake visitor and exhibitor lists, and we hold none.
What we offer is a pre-booked vehicle and a driver on a fixed written quote. A small executive team suits the Mercedes V-Class. A larger crew fits the 13-seater van or the Mercedes Sprinter. For meetings across the city on the same day, the hourly chauffeur service keeps one car and one driver with you, and the corporate chauffeur page covers a company account.
We do not know whether a coach, minibus or chauffeur car may use the organiser’s drop-off areas at either venue, because no rule is published. We agree the drop-off point with you and check the organiser’s access plan before the day, and we never assume a bay. For the airport leg, see the DXB to Downtown route.
Before you book
Entry rules depend on your passport. Check the official UAE government visa page and your own government’s travel advice before you book. We do not give visa advice.
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin about 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr about 9 or 10 March, subject to moon sighting, as reported by Gulf News citing the Emirates Astronomical Society. Gulfood opens on the Monday after that. March is part of peak season, so ask early. Send the dates, the hotel, the venue for each day and the number of people through the booking page.

How long to Expo City from Business Bay?
About 30 minutes in our free-flow model. For planning use approximately 35 to 50 minutes and allow more at peak times. It is an estimate, not an organiser figure.

Does the Metro reach both Gulfood venues?
Yes. According to the venues, the Red Line serves World Trade Centre Station at DWTC and Expo 2020 Station at Expo City. Check the RTA timetable for the last train.
Is there an organiser shuttle in 2027?
Not yet published. In 2026 the organiser ran free shuttles between the venues. Check gulfood.com closer to the event.
