What this index is

Prices for hiring a bus or van with a driver in Dubai are hard to compare. One operator’s “day” is eight hours, another’s is ten. Some add 5% VAT on top, some do not say. Some show a teaser figure on the homepage and a different one in the rate table. We wanted a plain answer, so we built one.

This index lists our starting price for a full day with a driver, by vehicle class, with the cost per seat. For one-way fares to other emirates it sets our prices beside the typical market range published on public operator pages in October 2026. It is a snapshot, not a quotation, and it will date. Use the tables for orientation, then ask for a written quote for your own date.

The headline findings

  • A full-size 50-seater coach starts from AED 1,450 a day and a 30-seater mini coach from AED 1,100. The two are AED 350 apart.
  • Per seat, the 50-seater has the lowest cost per seat in the table, at about AED 29 a day. A 13-seater van is about AED 69.
  • The Mercedes Sprinter, at AED 2,450 a day, costs more than any other vehicle except the Rolls-Royce, because it is sold on its interior.
  • The executive sedan starts from AED 950 a day and the luxury SUV from AED 1,100. A Rolls-Royce starts from AED 3,500.
  • The 13-seater van, at AED 900 a day, is our lowest starting price, below every car in the fleet.

Our starting prices by vehicle class

All figures are AED for a full day, meaning up to 10 hours with a driver and fuel. Starting prices are ours, from the price list on this site.

Reading a price

Compare any quote with ours on the same basis. Ask how many hours the day covers, whether VAT is added, and whether fuel, tolls and parking are included. Some published day rates cover 8 hours rather than 10, and some add 5% VAT on top.

The same vehicle name can cover two different products. A standard 16-seat Sprinter and a VIP Sprinter with lounge seating are priced very differently, so ask which one a quote is for.

Our starting prices are for up to 10 hours within Dubai with driver and fuel, and your written quote confirms the exact price for your date, route and hours.

Interior and price

Our own prices show the pattern. The 13-seater van starts at AED 900 and the 30-seater mini coach at AED 1,100, both priced as working group transport. The Mercedes V-Class and the Mercedes Sprinter, which are sold on their interiors, start at AED 1,150 and AED 2,450.

The more a vehicle is sold on its interior, the more quotes differ between operators. A big coach is a standard product. A VIP Sprinter or a V-Class is a different experience at each operator, and the price reflects it. If you are comparing quotes for a van or a Sprinter, ask what the seats and the cabin are like before you compare the number.

The cost per seat

Seat count changes the answer more than most people expect. This table divides each day rate by the seats in the vehicle, rounded to the nearest dirham. The mini coach uses 30 seats. It is simple arithmetic on our starting prices.

VehicleSeats usedOur starting price per seat
13-seater van13AED 69
Mercedes Sprinter16AED 153
30-seater mini coach30AED 37
50-seater coach50AED 29
Mercedes V-Class7AED 164

For a group of 39, one 50-seater costs AED 1,450. Three 13-seater vans would cost AED 2,700. That is why a bigger vehicle tends to win once a group passes about 13 people, as our coach rental page explains.

One-way fares to other emirates

One-way sedan fares from Dubai are set beside the market ranges we recorded. Fares are for the whole vehicle, not per person.

One way, sedan from DubaiTypical market rangeOur starting price
Abu Dhabi AirportAED 300 to 600AED 300
Al AinAED 350 to 585AED 350
HattaAED 500 to 550AED 450
Ras Al KhaimahAED 350 to 475AED 300
FujairahAED 320 to 475AED 300
Sharjah AirportAED 120 to 220AED 120

Hatta is a thin market. Only two operators publish a fare, and both are at AED 500. For Ras Al Khaimah, a lower fare of AED 300 is published for the reverse trip, so we used the Dubai direction. A Sharjah fare of AED 100 is a reverse-direction figure at taxi level and was left out.

Method

This is how the index was built, so you can check it.

  1. Time and scope: October 2026, with every route fare re-checked on 14 October 2026 and our day prices set on 19 October 2026. Only public operator web pages were used. Marketplaces, classifieds, aggregators and self-drive rates were excluded.
  2. Unit: a full day means up to 10 hours with a driver and fuel. Routes are one way for the whole vehicle.
  3. What was ignored: teaser figures on cards that do not say what is included, template prices repeated across unrelated sites, and figures that contradicted the same operator’s own rate table. Hourly and half-day fares were not counted as one-way fares.
  4. The range: after those exclusions, the typical market range for a route is the low and high of the credible fares for it. It is not an average, and it is not a weighted figure.
  5. The starting prices: ours come from our price list, and are for up to 10 hours within Dubai with driver and fuel.

How many operators? We counted it from our own evidence files, which list the lowest figure found for each vehicle class and route, and the next ones up. Counting each website once gives 39 distinct operator sites. That is the number of sites whose figures appear in our evidence, not a count of every operator in Dubai. Some of the 39 are cited for a figure we then excluded as a teaser.

What changes the price

Six things move a quote. Ask about each when you compare.

  • Hours: a day rate may cover 8 or 10 hours, and extra time is charged at an hourly rate.
  • Distance: a day that leaves Dubai is quoted as an intercity day. A starting price applies within Dubai.
  • VAT: some published figures add 5% on top.
  • Fuel, tolls and parking: some operators include them, others add them. Salik gates and parking depend on the route.
  • Vehicle class: a VIP Sprinter and a standard 16-seater are different vehicles.
  • Waiting, vehicles and days: waiting beyond the allowance, extra vehicles and extra days are listed separately.

Our quotes list the tolls, the parking and the waiting allowance for your route, and we do not add surcharges for late nights, public holidays or rain. The Salik and Darb guide explains the tolls, and our guide on how to choose a bus rental company lists the questions to ask.

Limits of this study

A published price is a starting point, and the price quoted for your date, hours and route may differ. Prices change without notice, pages that show prices only through scripts may be under-represented, and some operators publish nothing at all. The route ranges say nothing about vehicle age or service quality, and we do not rank anyone.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

How much does it cost to rent a bus in Dubai for a day?

Our starting prices are AED 1,100 for a 30-seater mini coach and AED 1,450 for a 50-seater coach, for up to 10 hours with a driver and fuel.

How much does a 50-seater bus cost in Dubai?

From AED 1,450 a day with driver and fuel, for up to 10 hours within Dubai. Your written quote confirms the exact price for your date and route.

What does a minibus cost for a day?

A 13-seater van starts from AED 900 a day, and a Mercedes Sprinter from AED 2,450, because the Sprinter is sold on its interior.

Why does the Sprinter cost more than a mini coach?

Because the Sprinter is an executive vehicle, with leather seats and a premium finish, while the mini coach is priced as working group transport. The same vehicle name can cover two different products, so check what a Sprinter quote includes.

Is VAT included in these prices?

Check it on every quote. Some operators add 5% VAT on top of a published figure. Where VAT applies to ours, it is shown on your invoice.

How many operators are in the index?

We counted 39 distinct operator websites cited in our evidence files. It is not a count of every operator in Dubai.

How often is the index updated?

It is a snapshot. Route fares were checked on 14 October 2026 and our day prices were set on 19 October 2026. We re-check when we reprice.

Why is a coach cheaper per seat than a van?

The day rate rises slowly with size, while the seat count rises quickly. At our starting prices a 50-seater is about AED 29 per seat, a 13-seater van about AED 69.

Is the starting price what I will pay?

It is the floor for up to 10 hours within Dubai with driver and fuel. Your written quote confirms the exact price for your date, route and hours.
