Hatta in a day, plan the return.
The Dubai Shopping Festival has added Hatta to its programme. Hatta is about 100 km from the city and has no Metro. The visit is easy to plan on the way out and harder on the way back, so plan the return first.

What is confirmed about Hatta and the festival
The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. That is 45 days counting both ends. The organiser is Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, and the festival page on visitdubai.com carries the dates.
Press coverage from mid October 2026 names a DSF x Hatta Wadi Hub strand. What’s On and Devo describe it as culinary pop-ups, an outdoor cinema and free-to-attend family experiences. That is as much as anyone has published so far. The organiser has said the full programme comes later.
| Question | Where it stands on 29 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Does DSF include Hatta? | Yes, a Hatta Wadi Hub strand is named in press coverage of the 2026/27 festival |
| Dates for Hatta | Not announced. Do not plan around a date you read in a listing |
| Opening hours | Not announced. One operator page we found is a summer page and does not apply |
| Line-up and shows | Not announced |
| Last year | The Dubai Media Office listed a Hatta Wadi Hub programme in the 2025 edition |
One more point to keep straight. The Beach Canteen, running 10 to 27 December, is a seaside event on the Jumeirah coast. It is not part of Hatta. Mixing the two up is easy because both are new DSF names this year.

The hub is in Hatta, near Hatta Dam, reached along the Dubai-Hatta Road. There is no Metro line there. The distance from most Dubai hotel districts is a little over 100 km each way.
That changes the plan. A mall visit can be shortened or moved by an hour without much cost. A trip of this length cannot. You are committing about three to four hours on the road in total before you have looked at anything, and an evening cinema or pop-up means the return drive happens in the dark.
The reports we read say the hub is free to enter, while many activities are charged and need booking. That comes from a travel listing rather than the organiser, so confirm it on the festival page before you rely on it. Booking any activity is done on the organiser’s own channels. We do not sell entry or activity places.
Public options come first
Check what already exists first. We could not find any published DSF shuttle or festival transport scheme for Hatta for 2026/27. That may change when the programme is released, so look at the festival page and the RTA site again in late November.
- Metro: it serves the city, not Hatta. It can bring you to the start of the road, but not along it.
- RTA buses: check the RTA journey planner for your date. We could not confirm a Hatta service for the festival period.
- Taxi or e-hail: workable for one or two people on the way out. Ask yourself how you will get a ride back from Hatta at the end of the day, because that is the part nobody can promise from a distance.
- Organiser information: the festival page and the Hatta Wadi Hub page are the places for hours, activity booking and any visitor transport.
A group of eight or more has a different problem. Splitting into taxis means several cars, several meeting points and no shared return time. That is where one booked vehicle starts to make sense.
Modelled distances from Dubai
The figures below come from a free-flow route model. They contain no traffic and no event congestion, so we round them and print a range. Allow more on weekends and on National Day and festival evenings.
| Start | Approx. distance | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai Mall and Downtown | 110 km | 85 to 110 minutes |
| Business Bay | 110 km | 90 to 110 minutes |
| Deira | 110 km | 85 to 110 minutes |
| Dubai Airport (DXB) | 105 km | 85 to 105 minutes |
| Sharjah (Al Majaz) | 120 km | 90 to 115 minutes |
| Dubai Marina and JBR | 130 km | 100 to 125 minutes |
| Palm Jumeirah (Atlantis) | 130 km | 105 to 135 minutes |
Everything on the Marina side adds about a quarter of an hour. If your group is split between Downtown and the Marina, tell us both pick-up points and we plan one route that collects everyone.
How a private day works
We are Dubai Bus Services, a private company. We are not appointed by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, Visit Dubai or the Hatta Wadi Hub, and our vehicle is not part of any festival shuttle. It is a booked vehicle with a driver who stays with you for the day.
The usual shape is simple. The driver collects the group from the hotel at a time you choose. The group spends the day at the hub. The vehicle waits within reach, and the return starts when you say so. If the evening programme runs late, nobody is watching a clock for the last bus. Because the Hatta hours are not published yet, we fix the pick-up and return times with you once they are.
For parties of two to six, the Mercedes V-Class is the comfortable choice. A family or friends group of up to 13 fits the 13-seater van. The Mercedes Sprinter suits a mid-size party with bags and a picnic. Larger school, club or tour groups go in the 30-seater mini coach or the 50-seater coach.
We do not know in advance where a coach may stop at the hub. We confirm the drop-off point with the organiser before the day and we never assume a bay. If you want the driver on a time-based booking rather than a fixed route, the hourly chauffeur page explains that format, and the coach rental page covers the larger vehicles.
Fitting Hatta around the rest of the festival
DSF opens on Friday 4 December, a day after the National Day holiday ends and three days before GITEX Global starts on 7 December. A Hatta day is best placed on a day with nothing else fixed. It does not combine well with a morning of meetings.
If Hatta is your big day out, keep the days either side light and plan one mall visit, not two. Our desert safari and city tour by minibus pages show how a full-day vehicle booking is planned in practice.
December is peak season, and larger vehicles go early for the festival weeks.
Before you travel
Carry your passport on the day. The Dubai-Hatta road runs close to a border area, and guides disagree on what a visitor may need to show, so we make no claim about checks. Entry rules depend on your passport. Check the official UAE government visa page before you book.
For the airport leg, our Dubai airport transfer page explains how pick-ups work, and the event transport page shows how we plan a group around a published programme.
Asking for a quote
Send the date you prefer, the number of people, the pick-up hotels and the time you would like to be back. Add any child seats or wheelchair needs. We reply with a fixed written quote before you accept. If the Hatta dates or hours change, we adjust the plan with you. Start on the booking page.
