Airport transfer or full-day hire?
You land on Tuesday and want one proper day out on Thursday. Do you book a ride from the airport and another ride later, or one driver who stays with you? Four things decide it: your bags, your hotel, the length of the plan and the size of your group.

The short answer
If you land, go to the hotel and need no vehicle for a few days, book a plain airport transfer. If the hours after landing or before a flight home are long and empty, price a few hours with the same driver. If you want one tour day in the middle of the stay, that is a separate booking, and it can start at your hotel.
Prices are the weak point of any comparison here. Our published starting prices are for a full day only, and an airport run is quoted for the job itself. So the fair way to compare is to ask for a fixed written quote for each option on one request, then read the quotes side by side.

| Question | Airport transfer | Day hire |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | One journey, airport to hotel or back | A driver and vehicle for the hours booked, up to 10 in a day |
| On the quote | Airport parking, Salik tolls, waiting allowance | The hours, the vehicle and any trip outside Dubai |
| Your bags | Go to the hotel with you | Stay on board all day |
| Stops on the way | Each one is on the quote | As many as the hours allow |
| Best for | Arrive and rest | A planned day with several stops |
A day booking is not a longer transfer. It is a driver who waits while you shop, eat or queue, and who keeps your bags in the vehicle. A transfer ends at the hotel door. Our Dubai airport transfer page explains how pick-ups, flight tracking and split arrivals work.
Four questions that decide it
- Do your bags have somewhere to go? Many hotels do not hand over rooms until the afternoon. Ask the hotel for early check-in or bag storage before you fly. If it says no, book the vehicle as a day and the bags stay on board.
- How soon do you want to start? Allow about an hour after landing for immigration and the walk to the car. A tired family often prefers the hotel first and the day out later.
- How many of you are there? A standard taxi seats four. Once your group would need a third taxi, ask for a van or minibus quote and compare it.
- Is the plan in one place? A day in Dubai stays inside the day rate. Abu Dhabi is about 90 minutes each way and goes on the quote as a trip to another emirate.
Four plans, and what we would price
Land mid-afternoon, nothing planned until tomorrow. A transfer. The driver tracks your flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and takes you to the hotel.
Land at dawn, room not ready until later. A few hours of hourly hire from the airport, not a full day. Hourly hire starts at four hours within Dubai. You see the city, the bags stay on board, and the driver drops you at the hotel when the room is ready.
A tour day in the middle of the stay. Day hire from your hotel, with the airport rides as separate transfers at each end. Plan the stops with the private Dubai city tour guide.
Check-out at noon, flight after midnight. Day hire that ends at the terminal. The bags never leave the vehicle. The late flight day plan shows a worked timetable.
Why separate bookings can be the better choice
A day booking pays for hours. If you will spend most of those hours at a pool, the hours are not doing much for you. On a rest day, use a taxi for the short hop to the beach and keep the driver for the days that have a long drive or several stops.
Airport days are different. Immigration, bags and a long flight make the first and last hours the ones where a driver earns the most. So many visitors book the two airport runs and one tour day, and nothing else. The family holiday guide sorts a week into driver days and taxi days.
If you are also weighing a rental car for the free days, read rent a car or hire a driver first. Every car we offer comes with a driver, and we do not rent cars without one.
Group size changes the sum
For one to three people the choice is between an executive sedan and a luxury SUV, and the airport run is a short job. For a family of five to seven, the Mercedes V-Class seats seven with six bags. For eight to thirteen people the 13-seater van takes ten bags.
The same vehicle can do the airport run and the tour day, so one quote can cover both. That is worth asking for when the group is large, because it keeps one driver and one set of bags in one place. The suitcase guide has the bag count for each vehicle.
How to ask for the quote
Put all the dates in one request and ask for the options priced separately. Useful versions are an airport transfer only, a transfer plus a day on a named date, and a day that starts at the airport.
- Both flight numbers, the terminals if you know them and the hotel by name.
- The number of people and a count of bags, with any stroller or golf bag listed.
- What you want to see on the tour day. Tickets are booked by you, ideally with a timed slot.
- Whether you would like the same driver on both days. Ask when you book. We plan it where the schedule allows, and our personal driver page explains the idea.
We reply with a fixed written quote naming the vehicle and the hours. Use the booking page to send it.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
Is one driver for the whole day better than two transfers?
It depends on the day. If you have several stops, bags to carry or a long drive, one driver is easier. If you will mostly stay at the hotel, separate transfers fit better. Ask for both on one request and compare the written quotes.
Can the same driver meet me at the airport and take me on a tour?
Yes, on one booking. We can also plan the same driver for two separate days where the schedule allows. Tell us when you book.
Do I have to book a full day, or can I book fewer hours?
Hourly hire starts at four hours within Dubai. See the hourly chauffeur page. Ask for the hours you need and the quote shows how they are counted.
What happens to my luggage on a day booking?
It stays in the vehicle with the driver while you visit each stop. Keep passports, medicines and valuables in your hand luggage.
Does an airport transfer include waiting time?
The written quote lists the waiting allowance, together with airport parking and any Salik tolls. Airline delays move the pick-up, because we track your flight.
Is a day trip to Abu Dhabi covered by the day rate?
It goes on the quote as a trip to another emirate. The drive is about 90 minutes each way, so a comfort stop is worth planning.
Do you sell tickets for attractions?
No. We provide the vehicle and the driver. Book tickets yourself and choose a timed slot where there is one.
How much does it cost?
Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the date, the vehicle, the route and the hours, and we put it in writing before you accept.
