Two art venues, one private minibus.
An art society, a gallery friends group or a university art department that wants a day of contemporary art in Dubai will usually land on two names: Jameel Arts Centre, on the Creek, and Alserkal Avenue, in the Al Quoz warehouse district. They sit about 21 km apart. Here is what each venue publishes about groups, hours, entrances and parking, what neither publishes about a coach stop, our modelled drive times, and how one vehicle with a driver ties the day together.

What Jameel Arts Centre says
Jameel Arts Centre says groups of 10 or more must book a visit in advance, with at least 48 hours’ notice. Its group page allows a self-led visit of up to 60 people, who are divided into smaller groups of about 20 once inside. It also offers guided tours for groups of 10 or more, and gives a separate contact for school and university groups. We make no booking for you, and we do not guide inside the centre.
The visit page says personal photography is allowed and professional video needs accreditation. It says no food or drink in the galleries, and no bicycles or skateboards.
On location, the centre puts itself at Jaddaf Waterfront, between Business Bay Bridge and Garhoud Bridge, on the Bur Dubai side of the Creek. It says the walk from Al Jaddaf Metro station on the Green Line takes 12 minutes, and that it can be reached from the E11 and Al Khail Road. It lists parking outside, beside the shop.
The opening hours list we read shows 10:00 to 20:00, a later start on Friday and one closed day, which we read as Tuesday. The layout of that list was unclear, so confirm the day and the hour with the centre before you fix a date.

Get a quoteWhat Alserkal Avenue says
Alserkal Avenue says it is open every day from 10:00 to 19:00, and that individual galleries and businesses keep their own hours, which can differ. Check the ones you plan to see. Listing sites disagree about Fridays and Sundays, but the Avenue itself lists all seven days.
It describes about 90 creative businesses and 17 leading galleries, with an arts fest each January and an art week twice a year. We found no 2027 dates for either, and print none.
On access, the Avenue sits in Al Quoz 1 with three entrances, on 17th Street, 6A Street and First Al Khail Street. It says parking is restricted inside the Avenue, with more than 500 RTA parking spaces in the area. For public transport it names the nearest Metro station as Onpassive, formerly Al Safa, with a 5-minute taxi, a 10-minute bus or a 30-minute walk. The Roads and Transport Authority has since said that station is being renamed Garmin, so the Metro name you see on a sign may differ from the one on the Avenue’s page. We read these as the same station.
The numbers
Venue figures first, then ours. Our drive times come from OpenStreetMap routing with no traffic, and we placed the Jameel and Alserkal points by hand, so they are approximate.

What is not published
We could not find a coach or minibus drop-off point, a coach parking area or a waiting rule at either venue. Both venues must be asked.
We agree a drop-off point and a collection point with you, and with the venue when it replies, and we cannot promise a stop at a gate. Until then we tell you what is still open. We name no exhibitions or galleries, since shows change.
Planning the day
Three questions set the day. How many people, because the Jameel group rules start at 10 and a self-led visit stops at 60. When must the group be inside, because Jameel needs notice. And how long do you want at each place, which is yours to decide.
For an example, take a group of 24 staying in Downtown Dubai, with a self-led visit booked at Jameel for 10:00. The vehicle might leave the hotel at about 09:35 for the modelled 9 minutes, allowing a margin and the walk in. After two hours there, it drives about 21 minutes to Alserkal for a late-lunch arrival, then returns to Downtown in about 12 to 13 minutes after an afternoon in the Avenue. Visit lengths are your call.
Friday hours at Jameel start later, and the UAE week has its own pattern, so read our weekend and Friday prayers guide before you fix a Friday. If you also want a heritage half day, see Old Dubai, the Creek souks and abra, and for a general city day the city tour by private minibus.
A licensed guide can be arranged for a fee: ask when you request a quote. The driver is not a guide. University departments can also read our study tour transport guide.
Choosing the vehicle
Count passengers first and bags second. An art group carries sketchbooks, cameras and coats more than suitcases. Our guide figures:
- Mercedes V-Class: up to 7 passengers and 6 bags.
- 13-seater HiAce: up to 13 passengers and about 10 suitcases.
- Mercedes Sprinter: up to 16 passengers and up to 12 suitcases.
- 30-seater mini coach and 50-seater coach for larger societies and class groups.
A group above 20 may do better as two smaller vehicles than one coach, since parking near Alserkal is restricted. Tell us the head count and we suggest a split.
How a booked vehicle fits
- Send the plan. Date, hotel area, party size and the time you must be at Jameel.
- Ask for a fixed written quote. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
- Read the pick-up and drop-off arrangement. The quote states it, and we update it when a venue publishes one.
- Agree the return time. We plan the margin and tell you what is not yet published.
- Tell us if plans change. We adjust where we can, and cannot promise to beat traffic.
