Dubai to Yas Marina Circuit, by coach.
The run from Dubai to Yas Island is one road and about an hour and a bit. The planning is in the timing: four different days, four different finish times, and a crowd of 60,000 or more leaving together on Sunday.

The road, in plain terms
You leave Dubai on the E11 towards Abu Dhabi and stay on it until the signs for Yas Island. Yas sits on the Dubai side of Abu Dhabi, close to Zayed International Airport and to the highway between the two cities, so the run does not go through the city centre. The circuit’s own venue page describes its position in just those words.
Distance depends on where you start. A routing engine built on OpenStreetMap, set to free-flow with no traffic, gives about 94 km from Dubai Marina, about 114 km from Downtown and about 122 km from Deira. That is an estimate, not an official figure, but it is a better guide than the single number you will see on some pages.
On time, the sources disagree. Yas Island’s own pages quote shorter figures, from 45 to 55 minutes from “Dubai”, without saying from where, and 75 minutes from Dubai International Airport. We plan with the wider range: approximately 60 to 95 minutes from central Dubai in normal traffic. On a Grand Prix day nobody publishes a figure, so we add margin and say so in the quote.

Get a quoteThe Ghantoot toll gate
Abu Dhabi’s Darb toll system added two gates on 4 May 2026. One is the Ghantoot Toll Gate on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street, which is the E11, in Ghantoot. It works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre announced both gates on 23 April 2026 and named Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street as the alternative to the Ghantoot gate.
A toll applies per crossing. The amount is on the Centre’s page, so we do not repeat it here. Salik is Dubai’s system and Darb is Abu Dhabi’s, and the two are separate. The practical point is simple: ask which road your vehicle will use, and check that your written quote lists the tolls and gates on that route, so none turns up afterwards.
When to leave, day by day
Formula 1 publishes its timetable in UTC. UAE time is UTC plus 4, with no clock change, so the local times below are the published times plus four hours. Thursday is the circuit’s opening day, not a track-session day.
| Day | On at the circuit (local time) | How the run usually works |
|---|---|---|
| Thu 3 Dec | Fanzone and West Oasis open to ticket holders, concert at Etihad Live in the evening | Leave Dubai in the afternoon, collect late at night |
| Fri 4 Dec | Practice 1 at 13:30, Practice 2 at 17:00, concert after | A midday departure covers both sessions, or go for the second only |
| Sat 5 Dec | Practice 3 at 14:30, qualifying at 18:00, concert after | Leave after lunch, expect a late return |
| Sun 6 Dec | Race at 17:00, flyover, fireworks, podium, concert after | Leave before midday, with a fixed pick-up plan |
Gate opening times for 2026 were not on the official pages when we read them. They will be on your ticket and in the Abu Dhabi GP app, so work from those.
Working back from Sunday
Start with the time you want to be inside, not the time the race starts. Take away the walk from the drop-off point to your seat, plus the bag check. Then take away the drive. For a group from central Dubai that is approximately 75 to 90 minutes, and you should plan on the longer figure.
An example. A group wants to be in the circuit area by 14:30 for a 17:00 start. At 90 minutes on the road, the vehicle leaves central Dubai at 13:00 at the latest, and a prudent group leaves earlier. That is our planning advice, not an organiser rule.
The way back is harder to predict. The organisers and Abu Dhabi’s transport authority publish the race-week plan close to the event, and the exit procedure and any closure times were not published when we read the sources. Agree a pick-up spot with the driver, and a fallback time if the finish runs late.
Which vehicle for which group
- Up to 7 guests: the Mercedes V-Class.
- Up to 13: the 13-seater van, with room for about ten bags.
- Up to 16: the Mercedes Sprinter.
- 22 to 30: the 30-seater mini coach.
- Up to about 50: the 50-seater coach, with luggage in the under-floor holds.
Our view: fewer, larger vehicles are easier to place. Drop-off areas at a big event are controlled, and one coach needs one place to stop. Whether a coach may use a given area is for the organisers to decide, so we confirm it against their current notice. The vehicle size guide has the seats and bags side by side, and coach rental in Dubai covers the larger vehicles in general.
What we need to quote
Send the dates, the days you are attending, the hotels, the headcount, the number of bags and the name of the area on your tickets. We do not sell tickets or hospitality, and we are not an official or appointed transport provider for the event. We provide the vehicle and the driver, and we ask for the ticket area only to plan the nearest permitted drop-off.
The reply is a fixed written quote, with the vehicle, the hours, the waiting time and the tolls listed. For the wider picture, see our Grand Prix guide from Dubai, the everyday Dubai to Yas Island page and our Abu Dhabi and intercity transfers. December is also peak season, so ask early.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
How long is the drive from Dubai to Yas Marina Circuit?
Approximately 60 to 95 minutes in normal traffic, depending on where in Dubai you start. Event days are longer, and no official figure for them is published.
How far is it by road?
Approximately 93 to 122 km from the main Dubai hotel areas, according to a free-flow routing estimate. It is an estimate, not an official distance.
Is there a toll on the way?
Abu Dhabi’s Darb system has a gate at Ghantoot on the E11, working 24 hours a day since 4 May 2026. A toll applies per crossing, and the written quote lists the tolls on your route.
Is Thursday 3 December a race day?
No. It is the circuit’s opening day, with the fanzone, the West Oasis and a concert. The first track session is on Friday 4 December.
Where will the coach drop us?
At a spot agreed with you and checked against the organisers’ current notice. Coach drop-off and waiting areas for 2026 were not published when we read the official pages.
Can the coach wait while we watch the race?
It depends on the areas the organisers set aside, so we plan it with you. A drop and a later collection is another option, and the quote shows which one it covers.
Do you sell tickets or hospitality?
No. Tickets are digital and sold by the organisers and authorised sellers. We provide the vehicle and the driver only.
Which vehicle suits a group of 40?
The 50-seater coach keeps 40 people and their bags in one vehicle. See our 50-seater coach page for details.
