From the airport to Yas Marina Circuit.
Most overseas race fans land in Dubai and watch in Abu Dhabi, so the first decision is made at arrivals: go to a hotel, or straight to the track. The luggage rules at the circuit usually settle it.

Two Dubai airports, two distances
Dubai International (DXB) is the busy one. Al Maktoum International (DWC) is the second airport, on the Abu Dhabi side of the city. That matters here, because every kilometre you save comes off the same road, the E11.
| Airport | Road distance (estimate) | Time we plan with | Official figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| DXB | About 128 km | Approximately 75 to 90 minutes | Yas Island says 75 minutes |
| DWC | About 95 km | Approximately 65 to 80 minutes | None found |
The distances come from a routing engine set to free-flow, with no traffic, and the start points are our choice. They are estimates. The 75 minutes for DXB is Yas Island’s own figure. On race days no source publishes a drive time, so treat every number here as the quiet-road case and add margin.
One more option for flyers: Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi is 10 to 15 minutes from Yas Island, according to Yas Island’s pages. If your airline route allows it, it is the shortest transfer of all. The rest of this page is for people landing in Dubai.

Get a quoteHotel first or circuit first
The circuit has no cloakroom. The organisers’ terms say so in plain words, and nothing can be left at the gate. Their banned list also covers large backpacks, cooler boxes, chairs and any large item that will not fit under a seat. A group fresh off a long-haul flight arrives with exactly those things.
So the usual answer is hotel first. The vehicle takes you from arrivals to your hotel, you drop the cases and change, and a second run takes you to Yas later. The cost is an extra leg. The gain is that nobody queues at a bag check with a suitcase.
Circuit first can work when two things are true. The flight lands in the morning, and the driver is allowed to wait nearby with the bags in the vehicle. Whether a given vehicle may wait at all depends on the areas the organisers set aside, and those were not published when we read the sources. We confirm against their current notice, and we do not promise it.
- Land on Thursday 3 December: hotel first, then the fanzone and concert if you have tickets.
- Land on Friday 4 December: Practice 2 starts at 17:00 local, so a morning landing can reach it, with the hotel stop in between.
- Land on Saturday 5 December: qualifying is at 18:00 local, so plan the hotel stop, then the run.
- Land on Sunday 6 December: the race starts at 17:00. Only an early arrival is realistic, and we would not plan a tight chain.
Before you land
Tickets are digital. The organisers say they sit in the Abu Dhabi GP app, under My Tickets, about 24 hours after purchase, and that screenshots and printouts are not accepted. To scan, you need a Ticketmaster account set to the UAE region. Set it up at home, where the Wi-Fi is easy.
Visa rules depend on your passport. Check the official UAE government portal and your airline before you book, and do not rely on a friend’s experience.
Send us the flight number. We track the flight and adjust the pick-up to the landing, so an early or a late arrival does not leave the driver guessing. Our airport chauffeur page and the Dubai airport transfer page cover the arrivals side, and Al Maktoum airport transfers cover DWC.
Group size and vehicle
A family or four friends fit a Mercedes V-Class, which takes up to 7 guests. Ten to sixteen travelling together, with cases, suit the Mercedes Sprinter. A tour group of 30 to 50 needs the 50-seater coach, with the cases in the under-floor holds.
Big arrivals have their own problems at DXB, with several flights, one meeting point and a long wait for the last bag. Our big group arrival at DXB guide covers that, and getting from the airport to your hotel covers the plain version.
The way back to the airport
The race starts at 17:00, and the weekend ends with a concert. The exit procedure for the crowd was not published when we read the sources, so nobody can tell you how long it takes to get away. That is the reason to keep the night free.
The simplest plan is to fly home on Monday. If your flight cannot move, leave the hotel with time in hand, and start the run back from Yas well before you think you need to. The road to either Dubai airport is approximately the same length as the road in, and it is not a place to arrive with ten minutes to spare.
Honest comparison: the AUH Express shuttle runs between Zayed International Airport and the Ibn Battuta bus station in Dubai, 24 hours a day, according to Visit Abu Dhabi. It suits one traveller with one bag. A group with luggage and a set departure time does better with a vehicle. See Uber, taxi or private transfer from the airport.
How to book
Send the flight numbers, the dates, the hotel or hotels, the headcount and the number of bags. State whether you want the run to the circuit on the same quote. We do not sell tickets or hospitality, and we are not an official or appointed transport provider. Ask for a fixed written quote, with the vehicle, the tolls and the waiting time listed.
For the rest of the weekend, read our Abu Dhabi Grand Prix guide, and for the road itself the Dubai to Yas Island page.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
How long does it take from DXB to Yas Marina Circuit?
Approximately 75 to 90 minutes in normal traffic. Yas Island quotes 75 minutes, and a routing estimate gives about 128 km. Race days are longer.
Is DWC closer to Yas than DXB?
Yes. A routing estimate gives about 95 km against about 128 km, so approximately 65 to 80 minutes. No official figure exists for DWC.
Can we leave our suitcases at the circuit?
No. The organisers’ terms say cloaking facilities are not available at the circuit, so bags go to the hotel first or stay in a vehicle that is allowed to wait.
Can the driver wait with our bags?
It depends on the areas the organisers set aside for vehicles, which were not published when we read the sources. We check their current notice and tell you before the day.
Where are my tickets?
In the Abu Dhabi GP app, under My Tickets. Screenshots and printouts are not accepted, so load them before you travel.
Do I need a visa?
It depends on your passport. Check the official UAE government portal and your airline before you book.
Can I fly out the night of the race?
We would not plan it. The exit from the circuit has no published timing, so a Monday flight is the safer choice.
Do you sell tickets?
No. Tickets come from the organisers or an authorised seller. We provide the vehicle and the driver only.
