NYE in Dubai, last year as a template.
Nothing is published yet for Thursday 31 December 2026. Last year’s notices tell you what kind of plan to expect and when it arrives. Use them as a checklist, then replace each line with the real notice.

A naming trap, and what is actually known
Many articles titled “New Year 2026” or “NYE 2026” describe the night of 31 December 2025, not the one coming. Media will call our night “New Year 2027”. Emaar’s own New Year site still showed the previous celebration when we checked on 29 October 2026. So everything below is last year’s arrangement, and we say so each time.
What is certain for this year is small. New Year’s Eve falls on a Thursday, and Friday 1 January 2027 is a public holiday on the federal list at u.ae. The fireworks plan, road closures and Metro hours for 31 December 2026 have not been issued. Last year the Dubai Media Office release came out on 26 December 2025, five days before the night. Expect the real notice late in December.
This page is a different job from our general New Year’s Eve with a group guide. That one explains how a group plans the evening. This one records what was announced in 2025, line by line, so you know what to look for.

The first column is what the authorities published for 31 December 2025. The second is the question to put to the 2026 notice when it appears. The source for the left column is the Dubai Media Office release of 26 December 2025, except where we say it was reported by Gulf News or Khaleej Times.
| Item | In 2025 | Ask of the 2026 notice |
|---|---|---|

| Road closures | From 4pm, widening until 11pm | What is the first closure time, and which streets? |
| Metro and Tram | 43 hours without a break, from 5am Wednesday 31 December to 11:59pm Thursday 1 January | Does the Metro run through, and until when on 1 January? |
| Parking | About 20,000 spaces near Burj Khalifa and about 8,000 at Metro stations and support car parks | Where are the support car parks this time? |
| Beaches and parks | Public beaches families only; 14 public parks open until 1am | Is the same rule repeated? |
| Support tents | 37 tents at celebration sites | Which sites have them? |
The road closures in 2025
The release lists the streets: Al Asayel Street, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, Lower and Upper Financial Centre Roads, Al Mustaqbal Street, Al Sukook Street and Sheikh Zayed Road. Closures began at 4pm and grew until 11pm.
Gulf News, reporting the RTA, gave a staged order: from 4pm Al Istiqlal, Al Mustaqbal, Lower Financial Centre, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and Burj Khalifa Street; from 8pm Al Multaqa; from 9pm Upper Financial Centre Road; and from 11pm a partial closure of Sheikh Zayed Road. Treat the staging as reported, not as a timetable.
Two planning points follow from this, whatever the 2026 details are. First, a vehicle that must reach Downtown has to arrive before the first closure, not after dinner. Second, a vehicle that must leave after midnight has to collect from a point outside the closed area. We fix that point with you in writing, once the notice is out.
Metro, Tram, taxis and buses
The public options are strong, and a group should read them before anything private. In 2025 the Metro Red and Green lines and the Tram ran for 43 hours. The RTA put more than 14,000 taxis, over 18,000 limousine and luxury vehicles and more than 1,300 buses on the road, with over 5,500 RTA staff. The RTA recorded 2.5 million public-transport passengers on the previous New Year’s Eve, 2024.
Free shuttle buses ran between celebration areas and Metro stations, taxi stands and car parks, before and after the show, as reported by Khaleej Times and Gulf News. One report placed a free shuttle on Al Omlaat Street, behind Swissotel Al Murooj, from 4pm to 8pm. We could not confirm that from an official text.
Reported by Gulf News, quoting the RTA: the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall Metro station stopped admitting riders from 5pm, or earlier at capacity, with Financial Centre, Business Bay, Emirates Towers and World Trade Centre named as other stations. Some bus routes from Al Quoz Industrial, Oud Al Muteena and Jebel Ali Industrial to the Burj Khalifa district were suspended.
Free public parking applied on 1 January 2026, except multi-storey car parks and Al Khail Gate. That was reported by Gulf News and covers last year only.
Burj Park and the viewing areas
Emaar runs its own Burj Park event and sells its own entry. We do not sell tickets, and we print no price. Last year Emaar said guests could enter from noon and that road closures were expected as early as 4pm. It used a colour-coded zone system and public viewing areas. Press reported free public viewing zones with entry gates that close when full. We have not confirmed that from an official page. For 2026, go to Emaar’s own site.
Dubai Mall viewing, hotels and restaurants are the other routes, and each has its own booking. We do not claim that a private vehicle gets through a closure.
Where a private vehicle fits
We are Dubai Bus Services. We are not an organiser’s or the RTA’s transport provider, and our vehicles are not part of the free shuttles. We do not know whether a coach may enter a closure zone on the night. That is not published, and we do not guess.
What we can do is plan around the notice. A hotel group that wants to travel together before the closures and return together afterwards, from a pre-agreed pick-up outside the closed streets, is the use. The V-Class, the 13-seater van and the Mercedes Sprinter cover families and friends. The 30-seater mini coach and 50-seater coach cover company parties.
Distances give a sense of the timing. Outside peak times, a modelled free-flow drive from Dubai Airport to Dubai Mall is about 15 to 20 minutes, and from Dubai Marina about 20 to 25 minutes. Allow much more on the night, and do not read these as a promise.
A checklist for the week the notice appears
- Read the first-closure time and compare it with your dinner or hotel time.
- Write down the nearest open Metro station and the walk from it to your table.
- Pick one pick-up point outside the closed streets, and name a back-up.
- Check whether your group is travelling on Thursday 31 December or Friday 1 January, which is a public holiday.
- Book the vehicle early. December is peak season, and larger vehicles are limited.
If you are leaving Dubai on 1 January, see our airport transfer page and our big group arrival guide for how airport pick-ups run. Entry rules depend on your passport. Check the official UAE government visa page before you book.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
Has Dubai published its New Year’s Eve 2026 plan?
Not yet. Last year the Dubai Media Office release came on 26 December, five days before the night. Check the RTA, the Dubai Media Office and Emaar.
Why do “NYE 2026” articles not match this year?
Most of them describe the night of 31 December 2025. This year’s night is 31 December 2026, which media will call New Year 2027.
Did the Metro run all night last year?
In 2025 the Metro and Tram ran for 43 hours, from 5am on 31 December. That is last year’s arrangement. The 2026 hours are not published yet.
When did the roads close last year?
Closures began at 4pm and widened until 11pm, according to the Dubai Media Office release. Check the 2026 notice for this year’s times.
Do you run the free shuttle buses?
No. The free shuttles in 2025 were run by the authorities. We are a private company, and our vehicles are booked separately.
Can a coach enter the closed streets?
We do not know. It is not published, so we plan the pick-up outside the closed area and confirm it in writing.
Do you sell Burj Park tickets?
No. Entry is sold by Emaar on its own site. We provide the vehicle and the driver.
How much does a vehicle cost on New Year’s Eve?
Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the group size, the route and the hours, and we put it in writing before you accept.
