Fourteen to sixteen people, one over thirteen.
The moment a party reaches 14, the 13-seat van is out. The Mercedes Sprinter takes over with 16 seats, but it carries only 12 bags, and the seat count on the quote depends on the layout. Here is how to check both.

The problem with being one over
Thirteen people fit a 13-seater van. Fourteen do not, and nothing else in the fleet is a clean fit. The seven-seat V-Class is too small, and the mini coach is built for 22 and up. That leaves the Mercedes Sprinter, a minibus with up to 16 seats in the standard layout, and the option of splitting the party across two vehicles.
Seats are passenger seats and the driver is not counted. Bags are medium suitcases, roughly 65 to 70 cm tall. For the wider comparison of all four sizes, see our guide to HiAce, Sprinter, Coaster and 50-seater.

Get a quoteCheck the layout, not just the name
The word Sprinter covers everything from a basic van to a VIP conversion. In the standard layout there are up to 16 seats. In a VIP layout there are fewer, wider seats with a lounge feel, built for roadshows and executive tours, and a party of 15 will not fit in one.
So the first question to ask any operator, including us, is how many seats the vehicle on your quote has. If you need 15 or 16 places, say so in the request and ask for the standard layout. Do not assume the vehicle in a photo is the one that arrives.
The standard layout has standing headroom, reclining leather seats, individual air vents and reading lights, with luggage space at the rear. The finish is the reason the Sprinter looks right outside a hotel or venue, and it is why speakers, delegations and clients are often put in one.
The sums for 14, 15 and 16
The seat count gives no trouble: 16 seats take 14, 15 or 16 people. The bags decide.
14 people, 14 suitcases. The Sprinter has 12 bag places. Two cases are left over.
15 people, 9 suitcases and 6 cabin bags. Fits. Cabin bags ride on laps and do not count against the 12.
16 people, 16 suitcases. Four over. Every seat is also taken, so the tour leader needs to be one of the 16.
When the bags outnumber the 12, there are only so many answers. A separate luggage vehicle can leave with the group and unload at the hotel. The 30-seater mini coach has around 20 bag places and looks half empty with 15 on board. Or the party goes into two vehicles. That last choice is where most people stop, so here is the sum for the worst case.
| 16 people, 16 suitcases | Seats | Bags | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Sprinter | 16 | 12 | Seats full, four bags over |
| 13-seater van plus V-Class | 20 | 16 | Everything fits, two drivers |
| Two 13-seater vans | 26 | 20 | Plenty of room, two drivers |
| One mini coach | 22 to 30 | 20 | Everything fits, one driver |
The van plus the V-Class is the least obvious answer and the only one that matches 16 bags exactly.
One Sprinter or two vehicles
Work through three questions in order. Stop at the first no.
- Are there 16 or fewer people in total, counting leaders and guides, and does the quote show the standard layout?
- Do the suitcases come to 12 or fewer, with anything oversized counted as several?
- Does everyone sleep at one hotel, with arrivals within a couple of hours of each other?
Three yeses mean one Sprinter. A no on the first means the party needs a bigger vehicle or two. A no on the second means a luggage vehicle, the mini coach or a pair of vans. A no on the third points to two vehicles, one per hotel or one per flight. The group airport transfer page explains the options for split arrivals, including one vehicle per flight and collect and wait.
There is also a comfort argument for staying in one vehicle. A party of 15 on a Sprinter shares one conversation. Split into a van and a V-Class, one half arrives first and the other texts to ask where the group is.
If you are travelling for work
Fourteen to sixteen is a very common size for a sales team, a speaker line-up or a small delegation. The Sprinter suits it because it keeps the team together between hotel and venue, and a VIP layout suits a smaller party that wants a lounge feel. Tell us the number and we confirm the seat count. Companies that book regularly can set up a corporate account with one monthly invoice.
For a multi-day conference, put the arrival, the daily runs and the departure on the same quote. The event transport page covers how venues and drop-off points are handled. We do not sell event passes or book rooms.
Landing with a party of 14 to 16
The driver waits in the public arrivals hall past customs with a name board for the group. Pre-booked vehicles generally cannot wait at the arrivals kerb, and your confirmation says where the group will be met. Allow time for 15 or so suitcases to be loaded.
Send flight numbers, the landing terminal, the hotel name and area, and the leader’s phone number. We track every flight. If the party includes older travellers or anyone who needs extra time, tell us before the trip. Our big group arrival guide has more on how the hall works with larger numbers.
Run the sum again for the flight home. Bags tend to come back heavier than they went out, and the 12-bag limit does not move. Most airlines ask for around three hours before an international flight, and a party of 16 checking in together takes longer at the desks than a couple does, so we work the pick-up time back from your flight and the driver is at the hotel ten minutes early.
Asking for a quote
Use the booking page. Give the headcount including leaders, the bag count with anything oversized, the layout you want and the pick-up points. We reply with a fixed written quote naming the vehicle and the seat count. To check it line by line, see what is in a bus rental quote.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
Can 16 people really fit in one Sprinter?
Yes, in the standard layout, which has up to 16 passenger seats. A VIP layout has fewer, so ask for the standard layout and check the seat count on your quote.
Is a Sprinter better than two vans for 14 people?
Only if the suitcases fit. The Sprinter carries about 12 bags, and a 13-seater van plus a V-Class together carry 16. Count your bags before you choose.
What if we are 17?
Seventeen is one over the Sprinter. The mini coach has 22 to 30 seats and around 20 bag places, so it is the natural next size.
Does the Sprinter have luggage space?
Yes, at the rear. The figure to plan with is about 12 medium suitcases. Cabin bags and backpacks do not count against it.
Can the Sprinter take a VIP layout for 14?
A VIP layout has fewer seats than the standard one, so a party of 14 may not fit. Tell us the number and we confirm the seat count in your quote.
Can we keep the same Sprinter for several days?
Yes. Arrival, daily runs and departure can sit on one quote with the same vehicle and driver.
Do you check the drop-off point with the hotel?
For larger vehicles we check the entrance with the hotel before the day. A Sprinter is smaller than a coach, but we still confirm the drop-off point.
How much does a Sprinter cost?
Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the date, the route and the hours, and we put it in writing before you accept.
