Dubai in summer: early starts, indoor middays.
From June to September the question is not what to see. It is when. A private vehicle changes the day because you move between cool places without waiting outside. Here is a way to build a day around the early morning, a long indoor middle and the evening.

The shape of a summer day
The pattern is the same whatever you plan. Do the outdoor things early in the morning or after sunset. Keep the middle of the day for museums, malls and a long lunch. Sunset falls at roughly 7.15pm in midsummer, so the evening is long and a late dinner is normal.
This is what we tell every group that asks. The summer calendar is thinner than winter, because visitors go home and events move indoors, so a vehicle is easier to place and the city is quieter. We still ask you to book early for the dates you care about, and we tell you honestly if a date is already full.
This page contains no temperatures. We have none we can source, and your own forecast on the day is better than any number we print.

Get a quoteA day in four parts
| Part | What fits | What the vehicle does |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning | Old Dubai, the souks, the Creek, a drive along the coast | Picks you up early. The city tour route uses an 8.30am start, so summer can begin earlier still |
| Late morning | A museum or the Dubai Frame | Drops you at the entrance and waits |
| Midday | A long lunch, a mall or an indoor attraction | Parked and cooled, ready when you are |
| Evening | Downtown, the fountain, the Marina and JBR waterfront | Collects you after sunset and takes you to the hotel |
A break at the hotel in the middle of the day is a legitimate choice. Tell us you want one and the written quote shows how the hours are counted. Hourly hire starts at four hours within Dubai, which suits a morning outing and an evening outing booked as two jobs. The hourly chauffeur page explains the rules.
What a private vehicle changes
Waiting is the hard part of a summer day. A taxi queue, a walk from a Metro station to the hotel and a car park that is a long way from the door all take time outside. Between May and September the walk from a car park to the entrance can be a hard few minutes for a toddler.
With a driver, the vehicle is cooled before pick-up and kept cool between stops, and chilled water is on board as standard in the cars. The driver drops you at the entrance and waits nearby. For a long outdoor stop, ask for a time to return, and the vehicle is there.
For a family or a group, one vehicle means one door, one set of bags and nobody left behind. The family holiday guide shows which days of a week need a driver and which can use a taxi or the hotel shuttle.
Indoor stops that work in July and August
The Dubai Mall and the Mall of the Emirates are the obvious midday stops. Our shopping day guide plans a group day around both. A long lunch near Madinat Jumeirah on the coast road works well on the city tour route.
If you are visiting Abu Dhabi, Yas Island has an advantage. The park pages describe Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld as indoor, so the weather decides very little there. The water park is the exception, so choose it with the season in mind.
Dubai Parks and Resorts is partly outdoors. From May to September midday is hot, so plan the outdoor rides for the morning, spend the middle of the day indoors or in the water park, and go back out later. The Legoland and Dubai Parks guide has the gates and drop-off.
Check the season before you promise anyone a particular attraction. Miracle Garden is a cool-season attraction. It usually closes around May or June, and it announces each season’s dates itself. The Miracle Garden guide explains why.
Longer trips out of the city
A day to Hatta, Al Ain or Abu Dhabi works in summer with a change of timing. Leave Dubai at around 8am for Hatta so you arrive before the heat builds at the dam. In summer, start earlier still and keep the middle of the day for indoor stops.
Al Ain is inland and often hotter than Dubai between roughly June and September. Walk the oasis early, spend the middle of the day indoors and save Jebel Hafeet for the evening. Our Dubai to Hatta route page has the drive time.
An Abu Dhabi day is about 90 minutes each way. Plan a comfort stop on any trip of more than two hours, and ask us to build it in. The Grand Mosque day trip page suggests the late afternoon as the gentlest time for older visitors. Check visiting hours before you go.
Arrival and departure days
Summer flights land at all hours, and the airport is the one place a group has no choice about the time. Send your flight number and we track it, so an early or late landing moves the pick-up. Allow 60 to 90 minutes from landing to the kerb for a big group. Our airport transfer page explains how.
If your flight leaves late in the evening, you can use the last day as an outdoor-free day: a late checkout, an indoor lunch and a transfer to the airport.
Asking for a quote
Tell us the dates, the number of people, the hotel by name and whether you want early starts, a midday break at the hotel or an evening outing. We reply with a fixed written quote that lists the vehicle, the hours and the waiting allowance. The same vehicle can be booked as one long day or as two shorter jobs. Use the booking page.
For a winter trip, the peak season guide tells you how far ahead to book.
