A group of 22 to 30 is too big for one van and too small for a full-size coach. The 30-seat mini coach is built for that gap. This page shows where it wins and where it does not.
Your reference
Group leaders abroad often start with a rough number: "about 25". Then they find that a 16-seat Sprinter is too small, two 13-seat vans cost more and split the group, and a 50-seat coach is far larger than needed. The mini coach sits in that gap.
It is a Toyota Coaster or similar, with 22 to 30 passenger seats depending on the layout, reclining seats, air-conditioning throughout and a rear luggage area. The driver is not counted in the seats, and fuel is in the day rate. See the 30-seater mini coach page for the vehicle itself.
Prices depend on the date and group size. Get yours in a minute.
Get my priceThe 30 in the name is the top figure, not the comfortable one. At 30 seats the legroom is tighter and the aisle is narrow. At 22 to 26 seats the same vehicle is a more relaxed ride. If your group is 28 and the programme includes two hours in the vehicle between stops, tell us. We may suggest a different layout, or a slightly larger vehicle.
Seat belts are fitted to every seat. Overhead racks take hand luggage, and the rear space takes the bags. Anyone who has ever stood in an aisle holding a rucksack for forty minutes will appreciate that the racks are a feature, not a detail.
The rear space takes around 20 medium suitcases. With 30 guests that is fewer bags than people, so a full coach and a full set of suitcases do not fit together. The two numbers have to be agreed before the vehicle is chosen.
| Group | Bags | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| 28 guests, day trip | Small bags only | One mini coach, hand luggage in the racks |
| 24 guests, airport transfer | One suitcase each | One mini coach, hold is nearly full |
| 28 guests, airport transfer | One suitcase each | Mini coach plus a 13-seater van for bags, or a 50-seater |
| 30 guests with equipment | Cases and boxes | Send sizes first, then we choose |
Two 13-seat vans carry 26 people at most. They need two drivers, two parking spaces and two arrival times, and any day with more than one stop becomes a puzzle of who is in which van. One mini coach carries the same group on one timetable.
Cost matters too. At starting prices, one mini coach is AED 1,100 per day. Two 13-seater vans are AED 900 each, so AED 1,800 per day for two. Those are starting prices, and the quote confirms the real ones, but the pattern holds: the single vehicle usually costs less once the group passes about 20.
Two vans win when the group splits into two parties with two different programmes, or when a hotel will not take anything larger than a van at its door.
This is the main reason to pick the mini coach over the 50-seater even when your numbers are near 30. It turns into villa streets, hotel entrances and venue gates where a longer vehicle must stop on the road. Dubai’s older districts, many beach clubs and a good number of private venues have access built for something smaller.
For a group of 28 heading to a wedding venue off a narrow road, that difference decides whether guests walk 20 metres or 400 in the heat.
University groups visiting from abroad often come in at 24 to 30 including staff. A morning at a museum, lunch, an afternoon on the coast. One mini coach, day bags only.
A sales team of 26 on an incentive stay needs a pick-up from one hotel, a dinner venue and back. The mini coach covers it, and the hotel group transfer guide explains how tour operators time those moves.
A wedding party of 28 going from a hotel to a ceremony and then to a dinner is a classic mini coach job. Tell us the dress code and the timings so the driver knows to park close and wait.
This is an example only, to show how the hours go. Your own plan can differ.
One mini coach, from AED 1,100 per day, with tolls and parking listed on the written quote.
The day rate covers up to 10 hours within Dubai with driver and fuel. Extra hours, a day outside Dubai, a late finish and each additional vehicle are priced on the quote. The price page lists every starting figure, and your written quote confirms the exact price for your date, route and hours.
For routes outside the city, the Abu Dhabi transfer page shows how intercity days are handled.
Under 17 guests, a Mercedes Sprinter is the neater choice, and the page for 16-seater Sprinter hire covers it. Over 30, move to the 50-seater coach. For a group of exactly 20, see the 20 people page.
A group of 28 does not board in two minutes. Allow ten minutes at a hotel, fifteen if there is luggage, and longer if the group arrives from several rooms at once. The driver will have the air-conditioning running before the first guest steps on, and in summer that matters more than any seat measurement.
On a hot day, plan for water on board and keep the doors closed once the group is seated. Leaders who count heads before the coach moves rarely lose anyone. Those who count after the first stop sometimes do.
Photo stops are the other time sink. A group that is told "ten minutes at the Creek" will use twenty. Build the extra ten into the day, and the hours on your quote will still fit.
The mini coach suits tour operators with a mid-size party, companies moving a team to an offsite, families and friends at a wedding, alumni and society trips, and sports squads with light kit. It is a poor fit for a group that insists on every guest having a very large suitcase, for a party of 35 who think they will squeeze in, and for anyone who wants a stand-up VIP cabin. For that last case, the Sprinter is nearer the mark.
If you are not sure, send the numbers and ask us to recommend. We would rather say a 50-seater is better for you than win a booking that leaves guests standing at the roadside with their bags.
Send the date, headcount, addresses, timings and luggage count through the booking page. A written quote follows by email. Confirm in writing, and the driver’s details come before the day. Changes and cancellations follow the terms on your quote.

Around 20 medium suitcases in the rear space, plus hand luggage in the overhead racks. For 25 or more people with suitcases, add a van or move up to the 50-seater.

Better than a full-size coach, yes. It still needs an address check, so send every pick-up and drop-off location.
A PA microphone is available on request in the mini coach. Mention it when you book.
Yes. That is quoted as an intercity day with tolls and waiting listed.
The mini coach tops out at 30. Tell us your upper number early, so we plan the 50-seater instead of improvising on the day.
