Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026 | Indian visitors in Dubai

Race day at Yas, sleeping in Dubai

India is 1.5 hours ahead of the UAE, and many Indian visitors pick Dubai for the hotel and Abu Dhabi for the race. The Grand Prix runs 3 to 6 December 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit. This page covers the Dubai half of that plan.

Yas Marina Circuit lit up for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Why a Dubai hotel and an Abu Dhabi race

Dubai has the wider choice of hotels, and for a family that wants a few days of shopping and sightseeing around the race weekend, it is the sensible base. The cost is a drive on race day. From Dubai Marina to Yas Marina Circuit the drive is about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 in normal traffic. From Downtown Dubai it is about 1 hour 30, and from DXB about 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30. Race days are slower, sometimes much slower, in the last stretch before Yas Island.

Check the official schedule for the 3 to 6 December race weekend before you plan. We do not sell tickets. We provide the vehicle and the driver, and you bring the ticket.

Clocks and flights from India

India is on UTC+5:30 and the UAE on UTC+4, which makes India 1.5 hours ahead. Flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi run about 3 to 4 hours, and arrival times fall at every hour of the day. Check your airline for schedules on your dates.

If the team lands in the late evening and the first race session is the next morning, the transfer from DXB to the hotel is the first job, and the Yas run is the second. Write both pickup times in UAE local time on the booking so that nobody works from India clock by mistake. Our quote always uses UAE time.

Joint families and the big vehicle question

Indian family groups at a sporting event are often several generations: grandparents, parents, young adults and children. That can mean ten to fourteen people who all want to travel together, which is a better fit for one larger vehicle than for three cars arriving at different times. A 13-seater van, which starts from AED 900 for a full day with driver and fuel, seats a family of that size. A Mercedes Sprinter gives more luggage room.

For two couples or a small family, a V-Class is calmer and quieter. If your group has an older relative who tires easily, say so when you book, and we plan a pickup point as close to the gate as the circuit allows.

Food, long days and vegetarian planning

A race day is long, and Indian families often plan the day around a vegetarian or Jain meal, or a halal option. The food at the circuit varies, so many groups eat a full meal at the hotel before leaving and carry snacks if the rules allow. Check what you can bring through the gates on the official site.

After the race, the plan is to eat in Abu Dhabi or back in Dubai. If you want a dinner stop in the city, tell us the restaurant and we add the stop to the booking. A late dinner in Dubai after a Yas return can be after 22:00, which is normal in the city, and the vehicle waits at the restaurant if you ask for it.

The route, the tolls and the gate you will pass

The road from Dubai to Abu Dhabi has a toll gate at Ghantoot (the Darb gate), and Dubai has Salik gates on the way out. These charges appear on the written quote and are not a surprise at the end of the day. Our toll explainer shows where they are.

For the full detail on timing the run, the Dubai to Yas transfer guide sets out departure windows. The Dubai to Yas Island page has the standard transfer.

A worked example: Marina hotel, afternoon session, home by midnight

The brief

A family of nine staying in Dubai Marina wants to see an afternoon session at Yas. They land from Mumbai at 06:30, sleep until late morning and want a vegetarian dinner before heading home.

The plan we would write

Pickup at the hotel mid-morning, giving about 1 hour 15 for the drive in normal traffic and extra time for the Yas Island approach. A 13-seater van waits at an agreed spot while the family is in the circuit. After the session the van drives to a restaurant in the city for dinner, then back to the Marina. The hours, the tolls and the dinner stop all appear on the quote before anyone pays.

What changes if the flight is late

If the plane lands at 13:00 instead, the afternoon session is unrealistic. We suggest an evening session or the following day, and we rewrite the quote.

Choosing between one vehicle all day and two one-way runs

There are two ways to do it. A vehicle booked for the day takes you to Yas, waits and brings you back. Two one-way runs, with a different departure time in the morning and a late pickup after the race, work out differently if your group splits up. Ask for both on the quote and compare.

A driver who stays has one more benefit: your coats, bags and anything you bought stay in the vehicle. Most families find that useful on a day with sun in the afternoon and cooler air after dark.

Next week's show, entry rules and the quote

The Grand Prix weekend is 3 to 6 December. GITEX Global follows from 8 to 11 December at Expo City Dubai. Indian business visitors who combine the two will move hotels, or stay put, depending on the show. Our F1 then GITEX week page sets out the combined plan, and the GITEX from India page covers the show.

Entry rules change. We do not give visa advice. Check with your airline or the official UAE immigration sites, ICP and GDRFA.

For a written quote, send your hotel, headcount, ticket day and return time through the booking page. We reply in dirhams with the vehicle, hours, driver, fuel and tolls listed. Our price page shows the starting figures.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

How long is the drive from a Dubai hotel to Yas Marina Circuit?

About 1 hour to 1 hour 15 from Dubai Marina and about 1 hour 30 from Downtown Dubai in normal traffic. Race days are slower, so we set a departure time well before the session you want to see.

Is India ahead of or behind the UAE?

Ahead by 1.5 hours in December. India is on UTC+5:30 and the UAE on UTC+4. We write every pickup in UAE local time, so check the time against the Dubai clock.

We are fourteen people. What vehicle do we need?

A 13-seater van is just short, so we would suggest a Sprinter or two vehicles. Send the headcount, the number of bags and the hotel, and we recommend the better option and write it on the quote.

Can the driver wait through the race and bring us back?

Yes. Book a vehicle for the full day. The hours are written on the quote, and the vehicle returns you to your Dubai hotel after the race, once the first rush at the gates has cleared and the family is ready.

Do you sell Grand Prix tickets?

No. We provide transport only. Check the official schedule for 3 to 6 December at Yas Marina Circuit and buy tickets from the official channels. Then tell us which day you hold a ticket for.

Can we stop for a vegetarian dinner on the way back?

Yes. Give us the restaurant name and the time and we add the stop to the booking. The vehicle waits at the restaurant, and the extra hours are written on the quote so the group knows the full cost of the evening.

Are tolls included in the quote?

Salik gates and the Darb gate at Ghantoot are listed on the written quote. We do not state toll amounts here. The quote shows what applies to your route.

Do you give visa advice?

No. Entry rules change. Check with your airline or the official UAE immigration sites, ICP and GDRFA, before booking the trip for your family. We cannot confirm what applies to individual passports.

Can we use the same vehicle for GITEX the next week?

Yes, if you tell us on the booking. We write a separate day for GITEX at Expo City on the quote, or a single combined plan for both events, whichever is easier to follow.
