Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026 | Kenyan visitors

Nairobi to Dubai, then the Grand Prix

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs 3 to 6 December 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit. Nairobi is a short flight from Dubai, which changes how a Kenyan group can plan the weekend. Here are the questions to answer before you ask for transport.

Arrivals at Dubai airport for visiting groups

Short flight, short margin

Nairobi to Dubai is about 5 hours. That is short enough that people book a long weekend rather than a week, and the margin for error is smaller than on a 14-hour trip. A delayed departure on Thursday eats into your first day, so we ask for the flight number and follow the real arrival time instead of the printed one.

Many flights from East Africa arrive overnight or in the early morning, depending on your airline, so check yours. If you land before dawn, tell us. We can meet you at Dubai airport whatever the hour, and then it is a hotel check-in question, which is for you and the hotel to settle in advance.

One hour, but check the clock

Kenya is on UTC+3 and the UAE on UTC+4, so Nairobi is one hour behind. The gap is small enough to forget. A pickup at 08:00 in Dubai is 07:00 in Nairobi. The risk is a message that says "meet at 8" with no clock named, which one cousin reads as Nairobi time and another as Dubai time. We write all times in UAE local time on the quote.

Three Kenyan group types we plan for

The friends trip

Four to eight people, one Dubai hotel, hand luggage plus one checked bag each. A Mercedes V-Class or a Sprinter suits them. Pick a pickup time that gives you space for breakfast, because the drive is about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 from the Marina or JBR.

The family visit

Relatives living in the UAE host cousins from Kenya for the race. Families spread across Sharjah, Al Nahda, Al Barsha and Dubai Marina often want a single pickup chain. Sharjah to the circuit takes longer than the Marina does, so the first pickup is earliest. We list each stop with a time.

The company outing

A team on a business trip adds the race as a reward. Mixed hotels, a manager who wants a quiet vehicle and staff who want to be together. Two vehicles are often simpler than one big coach with eight different hotels. We quote both ways if you ask.

Motorsport and the weekend itself

Kenya has its own motorsport following through the Safari Rally, and many fans arrive already knowing the sport. Formula One has a different pace: long gaps between sessions, a big crowd and slow exits. The Friday running is lighter, Saturday is qualifying, and Sunday is the race and the busiest road.

Check the official schedule for session times. We do not sell tickets and cannot confirm the programme. What we do is work out the drive from your hotel, the departure time for your chosen day and the return plan afterwards. Our page on the Dubai to Yas Marina transfer has the drive-time table and the notes on tolls.

Choosing where to sleep

A Kenyan group on a long weekend has to pick between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dubai has the larger choice of hotels and the shopping, and the airport is close. Abu Dhabi near Yas cuts the race-day drive to under half an hour from Saadiyat, Yas Island or the Corniche, but a night out in Dubai then needs a long ride back.

We quote either way. If you stay in Dubai, expect to leave early on Sunday and to return late. If you stay on Yas, the airport run on Monday is the long one: Abu Dhabi airport (AUH) is about 15 minutes from Yas, while DXB is about 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 30. Check which airport your return flight uses before booking the hotel.

What to send us

Four things make a Kenyan group quote quick: flight numbers for both directions, the exact hotel or home address in the UAE, the number of adults and children, and the number of bags. If you collect relatives from Sharjah or Al Ain on the way, list those stops too, because each one adds drive time. Tell us the ages of any children, so we can discuss seating before you confirm.

Vehicles and bags

Short-trip travellers carry less, but they carry gifts. Anyone visiting relatives in the UAE tends to carry gifts in, and the return leg carries shopping. Tell us bags in and bags out.

The Mercedes V-Class suits families of up to seven. A 13-seater van covers an extended family. For a club or office, the 30-seater mini coach is the next step.

Race day, evening, airport

Because the flight is short, many Kenyan visitors fly home on Monday 7 December. A Sunday race ending at dusk, a long road back and an early flight do not fit together. If that is you, ask for the airport run for the next morning to be written on the same quote, with a pickup time that allows for check-in. Staying one extra night makes the whole plan calmer.

If you stay on, GITEX Global opens on 8 December at Expo City Dubai, and the Grand Prix then GITEX plan shows how to stay for both.

Entry rules and the quote

Entry rules change, and we do not give visa advice. Check with your airline and the official UAE immigration sources, ICP or GDRFA, before you book. When you are ready, send the flight numbers, headcount, hotel areas and bags to the booking form, and we reply with a fixed written quote listing the vehicle, hours and tolls.

Frequently asked.

Quick answers for this trip.

What is the time difference between Nairobi and the UAE?

Nairobi is one hour behind the UAE. Kenya is on UTC+3 and the UAE on UTC+4. Our quote uses UAE local time, so a 08:00 pickup is 07:00 in Nairobi.

How long is the flight from Nairobi to Dubai?

About 5 hours. Arrival times depend on your airline and day, so check your airline. Tell us the flight number and we follow the real landing time.

Can you pick us up if we land before sunrise?

Yes. Give us the flight number and the driver meets you at arrivals. Check separately with your hotel about early check-in or storing bags.

How far is Yas Marina from Sharjah?

Further than from Dubai Marina, which is about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 in normal traffic. We set the pickup time once you give the exact starting point in Sharjah.

Can we fly home the morning after the race?

Yes, but plan the pickup time with the late return in mind. We can write the airport run on the same quote. An extra night makes the plan easier.

Do you sell Grand Prix tickets?

No. We provide transport only. Buy tickets through the official channels and check the official schedule for sessions.

Do you give visa advice for Kenyan passport holders?

No. Entry rules change. Check with your airline and the ICP or GDRFA websites.

Can you split the group across two vehicles?

Yes. Each vehicle appears as its own line on the quote, with its own pickup time and hotel stops.
