Senior groups in Dubai: pace first, vehicle second.
An over-60s tour is planned around time, not distance. This guide is for the organiser who has to decide how long a day should be, how many stops to fit and which vehicle to book. It covers pace and logistics, and nothing medical.

What this guide covers, and what it does not
We move groups. We do not advise on anyone’s health, and we do not make claims on this page about steps, toilets or lifts in a vehicle. If a traveller has mobility needs, ask us before you book and tell us what is needed. We confirm in writing what we can arrange for your trip, and we say so plainly when we cannot.
What we can speak to is the plan: how long the day runs, how many stops it holds, where the rests go and how the vehicle is sized. Treat the numbers below as planning suggestions from us, not rules.

Get a quoteHow long should the day be?
The honest answer is shorter than the brochure says. A half day of about five hours covers either Old Dubai or the modern city, not both. A full day of up to ten hours does both, with a proper lunch in between. For a group that has just flown in, start with a half day.
| Day type | Length | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival day | Airport to hotel, then nothing | Everyone, after a long flight |
| Half day | About 5 hours | A first look at the city with a long lunch |
| Short outing | Hourly hire, from 4 hours | A morning visit and a return for a rest |
| Full day | Up to 10 hours | A group that has settled in and wants both halves of the city |
The private city tour guide shows a full day hour by hour. Our advice for an older group is to take that route and cut it in two.
How many stops are sensible?
Our suggestion is three main stops in a half day and four or five in a full day, with a seated lunch counted as one. The city tour guide makes the same point in another way: a day with six unhurried stops beats nine rushed ones. For a group that moves slowly, three beats six.
Choose stops that are close to each other. Outside the peaks, the drive from Bur Dubai to Deira is around 15 minutes, from Deira to Jumeirah Mosque 25 to 30 minutes, and between Downtown and the Marina 25 to 35 minutes. The morning and evening rushes can double those figures on Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road, so keep Old Dubai early and Downtown late.
Ask the group leader to tell the driver before each stop how long people will want. A driver who knows it is 45 minutes does not hover at the door.
Where the rests go
Plan a comfort stop on any trip of more than two hours. Drivers know the service areas along the E11 and E66 and can build one into the timetable if you ask.
A day in Abu Dhabi is about 90 minutes each way, so a rest stop belongs in the plan, not in the improvisation. The Grand Mosque day trip page suggests late afternoon as the gentlest time for older visitors, and a driver can drop you as close to the entrance as the mosque allows.
Between stops, the vehicle itself is a place to sit down. Our vehicles are cooled before pick-up and kept cool between stops, and the day rate covers up to ten hours, so a break in the vehicle does not mean a rushed schedule.
- Put a seated lunch in the middle of the day, not at the end.
- Leave a gap of 20 to 30 minutes for the group to regroup. That is our suggestion, not a rule.
- Agree the last stop of the day before you start, so nobody is waiting on a late finish.
Which vehicle
Size the vehicle for the group and leave seats empty. Six spare seats cost less than two people standing in the aisle, and spare seats let people spread out.
| Group | Vehicle | Seats and bags |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 7 | Mercedes V-Class | 7 seats, 6 bags |
| 8 to 13 | 13-seater van | 13 seats, 10 bags |
| 14 to 16 | Mercedes Sprinter | 16 seats, 12 bags |
| 17 to 30 | 30-seater mini coach | 22 to 30 seats, 20 bags |
| 31 to 50 | 50-seater coach | 50 seats, 50 bags |
Seat comfort differs by vehicle. The Sprinter has reclining leather seats and a calmer ride. The coach and the mini coach have reclining seats and an aisle. The coach also has a PA system, which helps a group leader or guide speak to the whole vehicle. A van is simpler, and the back row feels the road more.
A mini coach fits hotel driveways that a full coach cannot. Whichever you choose, give us the hotel by name so we check the entrance in advance. Some hotels ask coaches to use a side entrance, and we tell your leader exactly where to wait.
Timing for the whole group
A group of older travellers often arrives at the kerb in a stream, not as a block. After landing at Dubai International, allow 60 to 90 minutes from landing to the kerb for a big group. Name anyone who needs extra time or help on the booking, and we plan the loading order around it.
Pick-up times in the morning should leave room for breakfast. Eight-thirty is a normal pick-up time on the city tour route. In the afternoon, finish earlier than you think. The group enjoys a quiet hour at the hotel more than a late stop.
Collect from as few hotels as possible, because each extra hotel adds time to the loop.
What the organiser should send us
- The number of travellers and the number of bags.
- The hotel by name and the day plan, even roughly.
- The flight numbers, if the group lands in Dubai.
- Any mobility need, so we can confirm in writing what we can arrange.
- A group leader’s name and mobile number.
We reply with a fixed written quote that lists the vehicle, the hours and the waiting allowance. The guide to a bus rental quote explains each line. For the whole trip, our coach rental page and the booking page are the places to start.

Frequently asked.
Quick answers for this trip.
How long should a day be for a group of older travellers?
Start with a half day of about five hours for the first outing, and move to a full day of up to ten hours once the group has settled in. Adjust to your own group. These are planning suggestions.
How many stops should we plan?
Our suggestion is three main stops in a half day and four or five in a full day, with a seated lunch counted as one. Fewer stops, held longer, usually work better.
Do you give medical advice?
No. We plan routes, timings and vehicles. If a traveller has a medical or mobility need, ask us before you book and we confirm in writing what we can arrange.
Is the vehicle wheelchair accessible?
We do not make that claim on this page. Ask us about mobility needs before booking, and we confirm in writing what we can arrange for your trip.
Where do rest stops go on a longer drive?
Plan a comfort stop on any trip of more than two hours. Drivers know the service areas along the E11 and E66. Ask us and we build one into the timetable.
Which vehicle suits a group of 25?
The 30-seater mini coach has 22 to 30 seats and 20 bags. Leaving a few seats empty gives people room.
Can we book by the hour?
Yes. Hourly hire starts at four hours within Dubai, so a short morning outing is possible. See the hourly chauffeur page.
How much does it cost?
Ask for a fixed written quote. It depends on the date, the group size, the route and the hours, and we put it in writing before you accept.
